05 Good morning, podcasting Morning Chat. Today is Wednesday, August 13th, 2025. And today, just like every Wednesday, it's Newsday. We're going to keep you up on everything that's happening in the podcasting world, staff, charts, events and Barbie. Yeah, Barbie. I'll explain in a second. So if you're listening just live in Clubhouse, hit that share button at the bottom left side of the screen and share it however Clubhouse lets you. And if you're listening via podcast, please share this episode with your fellow podcaster. And now give us about 30 seconds and we'll get things rolling. And yeah, Papa Mark is still out for the week. Good morning, everybody.

25 Mark is still out. He is doing like a camp counselor kind of thing for something that I can't pronounce. Does anyone remember what the? Yeah, that's Charcot Marie Tooth disease, CMT, and it's a peripheral nerve disease. He's at Camp Footprint in western Pennsylvania. Awesome. And he does this because his very, very best friend has this along with some of I believe the daughter also has this. And so Mark does this every single year because his best friend has. So we are going to push ahead. Mark's going to be back on Tuesday by the way, so today, Wednesday, Newsday. And so we have some, we have everything that's going to keep you in touch with the podcasting world, basically. And we're going to try and be as seamless as we are when Mark is here.

21 So with that in mind, I'm going to kick it over to Ashley and she has the stats for us today. All right, so here is your podcast data for August the 13th. Number one in Apple podcast in the United States is Cold Blooded Mystery in Alaska. The number one in Spotify for the United States is, of course, the Joe Rogan Experience. Really. Oh, OK. Yeah. And should I continue on down to podcast index? Yeah. Don't go right ahead. The Podcast Index reports this week that there are 4,628,851 podcast its directory with a total of 1,000,001 145,560,997 podcast episodes, which is an average of 31.5 episodes per show.

16 Wow. How about the active podcasts? OK, that would be the new episodes in the last week they're up 442,428, which is 12.7%. That is up from last week from 392,704 and the. New jump 12.7 That's a a nice big jump from one week to another. I was just thinking the same and the new episodes in the last 30 days is up by 1.9% from last month. Awesome. That means a new podcast episode is posted every 0.8 seconds. Let's talk about the charts. Spotify. That number 5 is Crime junkie #4 is breaking news from Pod Save America #3 is crime, conspiracy, cults and murder #2 is good hang with Amy Poehler, and #1 is the Joe Rogan Experience.

16 The random chart of the week. I picked investing, so get out your pens and papers, ladies and gentlemen. You might want to take a listen to this. Number 5, and this is from the Apple charts #5 is Money Rehab with Nicole lappen #4 is right about now with Ryan Alford #3 is chief change officer #2 is Diary of ACEO with Stephen Bartlett, and #1 is the Level Up podcast with Paul Alex. OK, so I'm going to go into a little bit of events right now. Every Thursday there is a podcasting network networking event. It's virtual so anyone can join.

05 It's put on by the podcast directory and it's 1:00 Pacific, 4:00 Eastern. And every Thursday they have like 3 different topics that they're going to concentrate on. And this is just for podcasters or people who want to be a guest on a podcast. That's strictly what it's for. OK. And we're going to put the link in the show notes, but the three topics for tomorrow will be business and entrepreneurship, money and finance and technology. And AII went last week.

46 And the creator of this, the leader of this is giving podcasting morning chat a coupon. And if you put PMC like in caps in the apply coupon area, you get in for free. Now I tried this yesterday and it worked beautifully. What I did was I chose like the four dollar amount, I clicked on the four dollar amount, and then once that second screen came up, I put in PMC apply and all of a sudden was free. So this works, you know it, it works. So go ahead and test it out. That's tomorrow, 4:00 PM Eastern.

28 And please, please come to this. We're trying to build this up a little bit, you know, get the podcasters and the people who want to be guests on podcasting. We're trying to create a little movement here. You know, also the Empowered podcasting #2 is September 26th to 28th. It's in Charlotte, NC, and y'all, please, there's tickets available. We're going to put the link in the show notes. This is going to be great. You guys, you guys have got to come. Let's talk about the awards. So true crime, I think it's probably still the number one genre, right, Jonathan? I was just going to say it's probably #1 but are you giving me an award? Because I will always accept awards. Sure.

13 Well, tell us your mystery and you've you've got the award. There we go. I'll think about that one. So there are awards. It's called the True Crime Podcast and there's nominations for the Clue Awards. I love it, the Clue Awards. So the nominees for this year's Clue Awards are in spotlighting excellence and responsible storytelling in true crime across podcasts, TV, film and publishing. 10 series, they're calling it. Series 10 podcasts will compete for top honors in the outstanding docu series and outstanding episode categories.

54 You know, we keep coming up with these new words like docu series or podcasting, and that's bugging me a little bit. OK Nominees for outstanding docu series is true crime news presents American hustlers in esto podcast with Ann Lee hunt up and vanished who killed Jennifer Judd and san miguel's kidnappings now. The Clue Award nominees and winners are determined by an independent committee of industry professionals including producers, network and streaming executives, and other creatives representing all sectors of the true crime genre. This year's judges have not been finalized, but in 2024 the committee included high level executives, acclaimed creatives from companies including NBCU, Wandering Wandering Yeah Simon and Schuster, Investigation Discovery, Campfire Studios. The award ceremonies will be held September 6th in Denver as part of the annual Crime Con event. Actor in hip Hop legend Ice T is set to host the ceremony. You know he has St. cred because he has 25 years of Law and Order SVU under his belt.

13 So let's get you some news bites. Ashley, can you pick it up? I I think I've talked long enough all in one stretch. All right, so the first thing I see in the news bites section is Spotify has handed the podcast linking tool Pod Blank back to its original creator and it's now been given a fresh refresh. The revamp Pod Link features an updated popularity ranked list of podcast platforms. This is the option to set your preferred app and built in trailer highlights. It's short lived replacement episodes dot FM now redirects to Pod Link and all existing links for both services which still work. I want to tell you that I use Pod Link all the time, all the time and there is a huge difference.

01 Before it was like bright pink, you know, the screen was and it kind of looked kind of amateur kind of stuff. Now it's sleek, it's beautiful, it's gorgeous. Again, if you don't want to have all of these different links of where to catch your podcast, just give the pod link link. The link from pod link of what? Because it's so much cleaner and it's just so much better. So rumors are swirling about 71 year old Howard Stern possible retirement from SiriusXM, but insiders say he's unlikely to pass the torch to Alex Cooper.

41 I didn't even know that that was a thing. She's the one that really gets under his skin. A source told The Sun. She pulls in hundreds of millions of listens, landed a massive $125 million deal, and he still can't stand that this young bubbly woman is now the big new star. I do. I did not write this, y'all. I don't know who wrote this. Both Stern and the 30 year old Call Her Daddy host have multi $1,000,000 contracts with SiriusXM and Cooper also boasts her own dedicated channel on the platform. How about that? I think it's very ironic because this is the same position he was with Imus, and it's just kind of like he's getting exactly what he deserves with this.

29 I am so happy, but at the same time I find it really funny and we don't talk about Howard Stern at all really. And. Not anymore, right? No, but I'm just saying in general, and he is so mainstream, and I think it's pretty fascinating. You know, your boyfriend Joe Rogan has been like, he takes over the airwaves, yet Howard Stern has been there and has always been there. And I find it really fascinating now that we're starting to talk about him when he's always been there and he's and he's always had great numbers. Yeah, he can't crash and burn enough for me. But I mean, he's funny. I love his interviews, but I was always an immest person growing up.

10 So he can pass all. Alex, who do you think would be a good candidate in when he retires? I think that I could see her actually filling his shoes, but I don't think, and I wish Mark was here because he would really have a really great perspective on this. You know, there's no such thing as a shock shock anymore. He was the last of the great shock shocks. I mean, the closest thing maybe is Joe Rogan. But at the same time, I could also see the Call Me Daddy lady just taking over. I don't think it's going to be a takeover as much as it's just going to be a change in the slot. That's all it is. Right. I just find it fascinating that he is getting the treatment or he's giving the treatment that he got when he started at WMBC. Absolutely, it is my egg fixing time and I think now's a good time to throw it over to Nick.

03 Nick, you ready? Good morning everybody. I just got a few news updates for you. Nothing crazy happening this week. The first one, if you didn't already know, Google has been a little bit of legal trouble with Google Chrome. I'm not totally Privy as what's going on, but like just enough to have an idea. Basically, it's been determined that Google's use of Chrome has kind of placed it in a monopoly status, and it was ruled that they need to get rid of Chrome, they need to sell it, and they're still fighting that on that front. But that hasn't stopped offers from coming in. And where the AI ties into this is perplexity. AI has put in a 34 or I guess over a 34 billion with AB dollar bid to purchase Chrome from Google. And now Google has not said anything about it. They have not commented on it at all. But I think it's pretty interesting and fascinating because I think perplexity is their value. Total company value is worth about half of the bid that they just put in for Chrome.

13 And they're saying that they have a lot of investors that are willing to back this deal for them to purchase Chrome. So I'm interested to see what would happen if Plexity did in fact buy Chrome. I think it's a long shot because Google's going to fight it tooth and nail. They obviously have the funding, but still interesting nonetheless. Next in AI, so GPT 5, we've talked about it for the last couple weeks. Now it is out. I believe everybody should have it at this point. If you don't, it should be soon, but I believe everyone should have it at this point. But people have been kind of complaining about GPT 5. I think a lot of lot of those that were GPT 4 users really liked how GPT 4 operated. They kind of got attached to conversing with that model and Sam Altman decided that he was going to allow users to use those older models still.

09 If you've tried GPT 5 and you're like, I hate this, I want to go back to the old models, but currently seems unavailable. You still have the ability to do so. You just have to go in, click on your little profile icon and go into the settings and there are options for you to bring back and use the GPT 4, the O3, the O4 models. So, Nick, what's their number one complaint about it, though? Some people have been complaining about the accuracy of math and reasoning. I don't use ChatGPT for any math type stuff so I can't confirm that or back to that experience up with anything. Other people just don't like the way it talks to them. They got attached to how GPT 4 O would converse with them and then now the GPT 5 came out it feels like they're talking to a completely different AI little bit. Different.

01 It's weird. I'm so glad you brought this up because I thought it was me. I don't know if anybody else has been using 5 and I haven't. And I've just started using chat GPTA lot for creating social media posts for my company. 4 seem very smooth and five just seems a little bit like it's still learning a little bit more. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it's just so funny that you said that cuz I noticed it. I thought it was me, Alex. Let me ask you cuz I've been using GPT 5 but I've been using it for very specific things not any kind of like writing tasks. So is it how it words things? Like does a word stuff goofy for you or what about it makes it feel different?

46 I don't think it's as quick. It's not that it's bad because it's not bad. It's just it's the way it's just producing. It is just a little bit different. It's reasoning is just a little bit different. It's like you have to over explain stuff like you used to have to do where now it's where 4 is. And maybe Renee has a better handle on it, but I can't put my finger on it. But I know that there's a difference, if that makes sense. Yeah, I got you. And Renee, since you came up here, I'm assuming you came up to participate in this. You want to speak to any of this or do you have anything else we want to add to the? Yeah, I don't have anything on GPT 5 because I've been actually I'm on my second week of vacation, so I've been doing the bare minimum work while I'm on vacation. So I've not played around around with GPT 5 at all other than to run very basic questions like like where's the best place to eat dinner and such and such town I'm in. So I'm no help for that.

43 But I can tell you that I want to just comment on the Google real quick. You know, when we think about the relationship you know, Google has with Google Chrome, this is the source of all of its information. This is where they, the plug insurance lay that are there from people different companies are laying on there. This is where they gather, where people travel to, what they do. I can't even imagine a world where Google has to give up Chrome, their source of all this information. I mean, that's really the crux of their data source. So I just wanted to throw that into that, Nicholas. Do you think this is going to be the next like it could be turned into like the baby bells if you know what I'm talking about?

28 No, I don't teach me. And now I'm feeling old. OK, Dr. So you've got. Oh baby. Oh bell. Like, oh Mama, Mama Bell and breaking. It up they. Don't even know how that could happen. This is the whole thing. It's a data play and asking them to break up who they are and what they are is because they own so much of us. So then for us to give that to another company, that's just going to make that company the giant. So whoever would buy that data or be forced to buy that data is going to be the kingpin. So if they are forced and they can't get out of it, because I'm sure they're saying the same thing without saying it is, guys, this is our business. This is what we own, this is who we are. So and that's my input.

16 I appreciate it Renee. Yeah, I think it's kind of far fetched. Like I said, they're they're obviously fighting every bit of the way and I haven't people have put in bids and I believe they've all gotten rejected or just ignored. I don't see this one going any differently. I just think it's really funny because Google and perplexity have kind of had a butting of heads. Complexity is in baby or and trying to change up the search game and then they put in a massive bit to buy micro flat out. I think it's kind of humorous. The question that I have is, going back to what you were saying, Renee, is what does Google own? And it seems like Matt's going to come up and answer some of these questions. I mean, yes, it's the data, but if you did take out Chrome, what else do they like? To your point, what else do they have left? I don't know.

01 Well. They do have a lot, they do have all our data from our Gmail. They have every single Google product they own. They own a lot of business data. They they do own Google business profile platforms and I'm out on a walk so I can't like pull up everything they own, but any of us could. They do own a lot of other things, but what they're missing is the up to date data of what we're interested in all those Google searches. Yeah. And I want to hear what Matt has to say also. Before Matt comes in, Matt, I'm going to come to you in a second. What I want to throw in there is Google Chrome, but I know we're kind of getting off on a little bit of a tangent here, but Chrome itself is just the browser. It's not necessarily the search engine itself, like Google itself, the search engine, the Chrome, is just the platform that you use to access it. But you can access Google from any browser. Microsoft Edge, which I don't think anybody really uses, they're tapped into Bing, or they're still Bing now. They're tapped into the Bing search engine. So if Microsoft Edge went away, that doesn't mean that Bing goes along with it.

05 It's just you would have to access Bing from another location. Don't you touch my edge. I love my edge. Android and an Edge browser. What go? For it, man. It's only because I've been following tech and stuff for a little while. I'm going to try and give you my lead up to this situation. My Google Apps history and background in 60 seconds. I think it was since 2016, the AU was having an eye at Android and Google for including Chrome as their default browser and a number of apps by default on devices they own. Because Google owns Android as an OS and a platform, and so the integration of those things is a monopoly. But search is also included in there as well. So when you're bundling Android with Chrome and then prioritizing search that gets paid for in Google. Then you have a big control like Renee was talking about with the whole history and having a all that data and people being able to pay for ads to be prioritized in search engines. So what that essentially means is that they've gone to Google, they've said, hey, you've got a monopoly here. You're taking a couple of billion dollars from different companies every year or giving them to companies every year to package your app inside devices with prioritized and paid for search.

26 That de prioritizes people who haven't paid you money to be placed at the very top of search list in Google and who these days goes past page one or even page 2 on their Google search. I don't think many do. Plus we got, you know, AI search engines that are, well, search engines, whatever you call them, doing something a little bit different. So the other aspect that's coming to this is the Google Play Store, in contrast to other Play stores, has meant that when Fortnite went after Apple for removing their app from the Play Store because they didn't follow guidelines with the mobile App Store payments because they were trying to take payments outside of the 30% that Apple takes. They've also been in a couple of years of legal action and have recently won against Apple to ensure that Fortnite gets placed on app stores again.

18 Google Play Store also being one of those things, also bundled together with Android and also having the ability now to include links to payments that go entirely and avoiding the app ecosystem percentage that goes on top already. All that stuff I've explained there should give you an idea of where Google's monopoly sits. Like if you've got the OS, the browser, the search, the ad campaigns, and anything you touch is Google related. Like it's if you've got an Android phone right now and you use the Google search, then you go to a website and you use the share button at the very top of the Google search preview page. Not Chrome, but the Google search preview page. You'll see it gives you an AMP shortcut link which redirects the instance of the page through a Google shortened link which takes that data.

14 Whereas if you click the three dots and click copy link to website, that will give you the website link instead. Like Google, as Renee said, is all about retaining that data and separating the company out and selling it off in different ways is going to enable people to access the data. But I don't think Google is going to retain it in a non monopoly state where someone like Perplexity has access to the browser. They're going to do the weird business stuff, get an appeals thing into the courts, have that take three years. And in that three years they'll figure out a way to create another company or a subsidiary that works at cross purposes but also in collaboration with Google's apps. And that is my summary of the whole action in the in 60 seconds, which was probably like 5 minutes. But it is complex.

03 There is a lot that Google owns. There is a lot that Google kills. And I think the biggest thing to take away from this is not how it impacts anything else, like the whole Chromium experience that also runs Microsoft Edge, which is the browser that Dr. loves. And I don't know how you could love that with the copilot being piled into everything, but it is going to have an impact on the user experience. But overall, what we do as users isn't going to change. The thing that has changed from 10 years ago is how we feel about our data, who controls it and the privacy of ourselves in the overall Internet.

43 They're still willing to forgo that privacy if we can get functionality. And so that's the philosophical question on top of everything. But I reckon the perplexity by as a joke, they're not going to spend 4232 whatever billion buying a browser, especially when people are talking about their common browser at the moment or whatever. But anyway, that's me. That was awesome. Nick, I think you have one other thing right. Yeah. So jumping back to GPT five, I've, I've personally, I've had a really good experience with it. I spent a lot of time building apps on the platform, which is kind of fun and play with and a little bit different of an experience. But one of the complaints to what Alex was asking or someone was asking, maybe it was UDR, was that the, the GPT 5 thinking the more powerful model didn't give plus users enough requests.

36 People were exceeding the amount of requests and and Sam Altman had came out and said that they were going to increase the number of requests per week up to like 3000 chat requests. So it gives plus users more time with the model and on top of that there are three. 1000 per what? 3000 per week. Per week, Per week I. Think I can deal with that, yeah. I haven't hit it yet and I've used it quite a bit in the last couple days. So I I don't know, maybe I've already got that increase and it's not a problem for me. But I could imagine people who are doing intense coding type activities if that pretty fast. But on top of that they are offering soon. I haven't seen it available yet, but a limited number of user requests for the GPT 5 Pro model, which currently is only available to if you're paying $200 a month for ChatGPT. So that is something that's coming. It's supposed to be faster to the point Alex said where GPT 5 feels a little bit slower.

36 And it's thinking GPT 5 or GPT 5 Pro is supposed to be a lot quicker, a lot more powerful. Just pretty much anytime ChatGPT releases a model, just replace those words now with this. Model. So Nick, is that you or you in that $200 range? Oh gosh no, I'll wait for the the good stuff to trickle down to my $20.00 a month model. That's. Right again. Trickle down theory. All right. Yeah. What's kind of interesting is I'm just playing with it right now and on the the mobile app, when you hit ChatGPT 5, you've got a couple of different options. You know, from auto faster thinking and you know, auto was thinking normal, I guess fast as instant answers and then thinking is a little bit longer.

21 The only one that I can get on my phone is ChatGPT 4, but it seemed like I was be I was able to get all the GP TS on my desktop. So I don't know maybe or my maybe, I just thought that was the case. But Nick didn't. Once 5 came out, didn't that wipe out just about all of them? I haven't been on it today yet, but the last couple days I've been playing with that. If I go to the model selection in, at least on desktop, I only have the option between like GPT 5 I think they call it like their flagship model and GPT 5 thinking. But if you don't select any model, it's supposed to determine based on your request which model to use.

02 I think that's been a a bone of contention for people as well as that they don't understand why it's choosing the models it's choosing. And they're saying they might have a little bit of an issue with how it's choosing the models it's choosing. But I think I've primarily with the stuff I've been doing has been all the GPT 5 thinking, which is slower, but I've had overall really good experience with it so far. Right when it first changed over for me from 4:00 to 5:00, I got this beautiful in color, gorgeous screen. And now it's back to the bare bones, the black and white, no nonsense, no frills kind of screen. Is that is it just me or is it that happened to everyone? I honestly haven't noticed.

44 I noticed initially when it was all colorful, but then I kind of stopped paying attention. OK, I'm going to say it's probably with everyone. Alex, is it back to the black? I never, I never saw the colors. I never even saw the black and white. Maybe that's a different setting or something? One of my things is that in order to keep me on that screen, it has to be aesthetically pleasing to my eye. This is one of the reasons why I don't go to Discord because it's not aesthetically pleasing to my eye. So with all the different competitors and everything coming up in AI, they they just need to up their game and on the interface.

27 That's my opinion, just. Y'all are crazy. Y'all are crazy. It works incredibly well. It chooses. So what? It doesn't have color. I'm sitting there going, I'm listening to you guys. I'm going, wow, things change. That happens. We get used to it. It gives you better answers, at least in my opinion, and it works really well and fast for fast for the thinking model compared to what it was. Then I think you need to rephrase what you just said. Y'all are crazy. So I mean, you know, we got to take it all with a grain of salt though. But I will say in her defense, it would be nice if it was a more aesthetically pleasing, but at the same time it does what it's supposed to do it.

10 Does what it's supposed to do and and some of the other competitors will be doing that as well. I think going back to the thing about Google with Chrome, I mean, let's face it, it's all about the interface. If the interface works and people like it, then it's going to be a little bit more successful. And I'm not saying that Touchy PD is not going to be. And I'm with you, I don't have a problem with that, what color it is. But I just think it all comes back to the interface and how people use stuff. And it'll be interesting to see if it does get changed or how all these topics get played out. And the other thing I wish is that there was better organization.

50 I would love to see some kind of folders there for you know, so like when we when I do the news. They have folders. They're called projects on the side. There should be a thing that you can say new project and you can start conversations in there and all of those conversations states. Something that says folders, but it's called projects. OK, well I got to check that out then. Jonathan, you are up with some social media news. I'm sorry, I'm not giving social media news to crazy people, no. Too late, brother. All righty, well, we have there were some Instagram updates and I know we talked about repost, which is a big one. So you can now repost your favorite content, but I would go beyond just reposting your favorite content.

33 I would focus on reposting things that are going to help you, you know, talk about things in your business. So definitely a focus for that. There are also new edits updates for Instagram for the Instagram edits app, which I don't know if anybody's using. It's nowhere near as good as cap cut, but it's getting better. So it does have now you can share drafts with collaborators. They have stickies and a teleprompter feature, which is allowing you to actually do talking head reels with a teleprompter so you can see it. It's actually making it a lot easier for people that don't like to memorize their content. So that's great and volume now you can go to 150%. So that's the big change there.

19 Other than that, we've been over on Chatter. They did have some updates to the app again, doing some fun things and we have multi streaming coming in the next couple weeks over there. So a full multi streaming solution on Chatter which is connected directly with Blue Sky. So that integration is fully complete now and that's that's what we've got social media wise. Let's get back to that volume thing you said. The volume goes all the way up to 150%. Increase your volume, yeah. So if you are, if you are like sounding very low compared to like the music in the background, you can increase your volume up to 150%. I do recommend bringing your music down to 1%. Generally is a better solution, but you can do it the other way. This feels very Spinal Tapish to me. So it's not 100.

08 It's it's not ten, it's 11. It's not 100, it's 150. It feels very Spinal Tapish to me. Well, thank you very much, Jonathan. That's great. We're going to get back online on the news. And Ashley, you are up talking about Chandra land. And just before Ashley says, if you're not familiar with Chandra Land, she is. Chandra is a huge mega media influence. She's the creator of Grey's Anatomy and a ton of other shows. I did not know that she also had podcasts in her portfolio. So there is some news about that. Go ahead, Ashley.

50 Shawn, the Land. Grey's Anatomy has shut down its podcast division after five years, leading to layoffs and uncertainty about partnership with I Heart Media. Shows affected include Bridgerton, the last official podcast, and the Laverne Cox Show. This follows A broader trend in the industry as Amazon is also restructuring its podcast business and cutting jobs at Wondery. Yeah, Wondery has been through the mill. I just wanted to do an aside here. I saw on pod news, God love James because you know, there was about 110 people who lost their job at Wondery. And I clicked on a link somewhere on pod news. He has listed every single person who lost their job, what their specialty is and their contact information for anyone who's looking for someone for, you know, for a job to fill. So I thought that was I thought that was absolutely great. So James, just thank you to you for that. I tease this at the top of the show. This kind of goes into the you've got to be kidding me department.

03 And Renee, I, I want you to listen to this because I think that your information will be pretty valuable here. So a podcast that has been active for about 5 years, it's called Coffee with Ken is in hot water today because the toy giant Mattel is suing host Ken Bibbery. His show features thought leadership conversations with government officials CE OS entrepreneurs. But Mattel claims listeners could somehow mistake him for Barbie's plastic boyfriend. You know, Ken Mattel, what are you drinking over there? So I personally think that this is probably the greatest thing that could ever happen to to Coffee with Ken because now millions more people know about Coffee with Ken. Renee, do you have any comment about this? Well, my first question is, yeah, I agree with you 100%, like the lucky day for him.

05 But second thing is, is what does his branding look like? I would want to look at that. And if there's, but it's really comes down to branding confusion. What's the likelihood that people will be confused? And he unfortunately may have to lawyer up on this. Yeah, he does change his branding. He does have a lawyer and his his branding is like a bright near yellow with black bold lettering. And there is nothing remotely Barbie esque in any of his branding. I mean, it's, it's crazy. We have too many cases, We have too many cases where using your name is legal. Like in most states.

50 If you just open a business with your name, Auto Body by Ken, you know Ken or Auto Body by Ken Smithington, you don't even have to file that with the state because it recognizes that this is your business. This is your name. You get to use your name as the you don't have to go through the whole fictitious name search because it's your name. I'd like to follow that one from a legal standpoint just to see that, I mean, this is ridiculous. I mean, look at why aren't they going after photography by Ken and all these other things. I I think, yeah, he made it on Mattel's radar. I think what I would do if I were the lawyer, I would be looking at the conversations and interactions and I would bring those to the table and say, you know, yes, there's been five people out of 400,000 that have made mention to Ken and Barbie, but that was never brought on by Ken. That was brought on by them.

46 So there could be a little bit more to the story that we don't know, that he could have made some references. But I agree with you this this will be a fun one to watch. The first name is of course Ken, but the last name is spelled BIBAR. A. J And it's pronounced bibbery, so it's going on for five years. The show's going on for five years, and they went for a trademark, and that's what put them on Mattel's radar. So it is crazy. What are your thoughts on intellectual property rights in the context of widely recognized characters like Ken, especially when the content is completely unrelated? I mean, we've already talked about branding. The fact that he, his branding is completely different than Barbie.

36 I don't even think there's the color pink anywhere in his branding, Matthew. Just a shout out to my Australians. I'd be very concerned if I was doing a BBQ related podcast because on. The Barbie. Let's talk. About Barbies, they might be coming after me. I don't. Know. Agreed, Ashley. You have something about Patreon today. Yes, absolutely. This is interesting. Patreon just released some new figures, and they are claiming that Patreon creators have now earned over 10 billion since the platform was first launched in 2013. The company is now paying creators more than 2 billion annually and there's now more than 25,000,000 paid memberships on the platform.

19 And I find this interesting because I helped run a couple of Patreon communities and I've seen that it can be somewhat sustaining. But what do y'all think? Do y'all think that this is a long term thing that can be sustaining to your career? Or what challenges do you think might be happening if you choose to go straight on Patreon? So Patreon is interesting. How long have you been helping people on Patreon? About two years. OK, so you have been there long enough to see it kind of morphed into something from what it was when you started two years ago to what it is now. And so I'm assuming that you would say that it's better. Have they gotten rid of any kind of features that you wish they had not?

03 Was it better when you first joined? If anything, it's gotten better. They keep adding features. Now I will say, and this isn't on Patreon, this is on Apple. And that is if you decide to become a patron of someone, you use the Apple App, they add a surcharge. I can't remember the percentage, but I do remember when that happened. There were a lot of folks upset. But the work around to that is to join the Patreon that you want to join through a browser as opposed to going through the Patreon app in the App Store. I hope that makes sense. Through a browser. OK, excellent. So I was trying to think of who Patreon's competitor is.

45 I think there's something called Member Full, but I haven't really heard anything about them. Patreon is pretty much the patriarch of the of the family, I guess you would say. Have you heard anything about Member Full? I am not familiar. Yeah, I think that's that's one of their competitors. Anyway, I'm going to go on to the next story and that is about the Edison Research has revealed the power of UK podcasting. Pay attention Matthew, I know you're in Australia, but you still have Auk accent so I will give it to you. The biggest 10 shows in the UK reach a staggering 2.3 million Americans every week. Now there's 10 here, but I'm going to read from the top five. S #5 is Magnus archives #4 is The Rest is history #3 I'm slowing down here to read this SHXTS and gigs and #2 is Diary of ACEO and #1 is On Purpose with Jay Shetty. I think that's pretty interesting. Matthew, do you listen to any of those podcasts? I don't.

00 I stopped listening to Diary of a CEO a little while ago because of my own opinions. And I'm not surprised that Jay Shetty's up there as well. Like he's he had a pretty quick rise to fame. He's been doing pretty well with his own podcast the last couple of years, although more than usually being put in hot water for things he said and doesn't do or doesn't doesn't say. Yeah, I think there was a little bit of controversy going on about his bio is not everything that. I think it's not generally it's a vibe like where he came from. He started as a bloke who was a journalist or something, went off to do Monk stuff for a year and a bit, came back enlightened.

41 And now he's got his multi $1,000,000 LA house on the side and you know, a very successful podcast and very visible. Perhaps not as Monk like as one might presume, not as much humility. And so he's. Not in the monk business anymore. Give the guy a break. He's not in the monk business anymore, so. Someone can be enlightened and wealthy, I imagine you know the world is what it is. Oh, awesome, Ashley, there's three stories on YouTube that I would like to get in before we wrap up today. And Ashley, you go with, go with the first one. All right, editing videos with multi audio language tracks. Creators will soon be able to use studio editor on videos with automatic dubbing enabled and once edits are saved, the auto dub tracks will be regenerated to match the changes.

31 However, editing videos that have manually uploaded multi language audio tracks isn't supported just yet. That features it's expected to roll out later this year. The other feature that's new is Post image limit increase. Now this is expected to be fully launched by the end of this week. Now, until now, creators were limited to uploading 5 images per post on their channel. That limit has now been doubled, allowing up to 10 images per post. The updated feature is rolling out across iOS, Android, tablets, desktop, and Studio all. Right, you're the next one.

12 YouTube is to promote improvement for website visits. YouTube Promote has been updated to give creators more control over their calls to action when driving website visits. Now, when setting up a campaign with the goal of increasing site traffic, creators can choose more specific outcomes like Book Now, Get Quote, or Contact Us. The feature is currently available on desktop. And as a reminder, YouTube Promote allows creators to run ad campaigns directly from YouTube or YouTube Studio without using Google Ads to boost subscribers, increase video views, or drive website visits, whether for shorts or long form videos.

53 So I'm looking at the clock, we only have about 4 minutes until the top of the hour and I'm looking at all the other stories that we have to go and it's been there more than 4 minute or so. We're going to wrap it up early. I'm going to give you 4 minutes of your day. Back to you and I hope you'll be with us tomorrow. And until then, have a great day everyone. Bye bye.
