04 Good morning podcasting Morning Chat. Today is Friday, June 6th, 2025 and today, what do you do when your dream podcast name is already taken? We're breaking it down with a real world example. Plus, it's Friday, so we're also sharing our wins from the week. So if you're listening live on Clubhouse, hit the share button, bottom left hand side of the screen and share it. However, Clubhouse lets you. And if you're listening via podcast, please share this episode with a fellow podcaster. And now give us about 30 seconds and we'll get things rolling. Thanks for being here. Good morning again podcasting morning chat. Thank you for being here.
24 I am your host Mark Ronik and currently on stage with me. My Co hosts we have producer Ashley Feller, Dr. Faye, Sid Meadows and Nick Nolback. And like I said at the beginning, we're going to dig into a real world case or true story, if you will, thanks to Dr. who is working with a brand new client she told us about earlier in the week, I believe. And I think what I will do is I'll just go straight to you, Dr. if you don't mind, and go ahead and set this up. Tell us what's going on with this new client. So he is a launch client and he's into the topic of the show is going to be robotics and he, the formal name for it I guess is industrial automation, but it's basically robotics and things. He's a really smart guy.
21 He's got some brains on him. So he came to me. He's been living with this name of his show in his brain for a while. He's had this idea to do this show for a while, and he's kind of settled on this name. And honestly, as a podcast producer, that's probably my hardest job is to get people to nudge a little bit on the name. I mean, I would love, I would love it if there were some keywords in it. But you know, this is his show. Yeah. And I'm going to stop you right there for a second because this goes back to stuff we talked about all the time, that there are tons of different strategies out there to help with discoverability, help with your growth. And one of those things with discoverability is, yeah, like you said, Dr. putting in keywords into the title, things that people are going to be searching for, that maybe then your show name will pop up in that search. But it's important, I think to say that ultimately it is up to you, the client or you, the podcaster, what you're going to name your show and it may go against the traditional strategies.
35 And I think that's OK. You know, some of the most successful businesses, podcasts, social media channels, etcetera, all, not all, a lot of them have unusual names that you wouldn't know. I mean, look at Google, right? I mean, there are sometimes names that don't fit the mold and the show still does well. It's just if you're trying to position yourself to be discovered more rapidly, I guess is the best way to put it, Sure, then go ahead and put in those keywords. But sometimes, if it's just in your heart that you feel this is the name, then so be it. Right. And I wanted to be said that he is actually, should I say, a celebrity in his circles.
21 Everyone knows who this guy is. He's lectured. And he, I mean, he's pretty well known in this circle. We did a huge search, you know, to see if we're infringing on the name and everything. And the name that he has chosen is Mastering the Machine, Mastering the Machine. And we did an extensive search. We went to Listen Notes and we went to podnews.net because they have a database of podcasts. We went to Apple, we went to Spotify, we went everyone. And I have several different databases of podcasts and I went to them all did nothing, came up, was fine.
04 So 2 days ago I don't know what got into me but I just went on Spotify and I put in mastering the machine and boom it popped up. That's so weird. So yeah, so weird. And you only find it on Spotify. You're not finding it anywhere else, and I mean nowhere else, just Spotify. And how many shows? Well there is a trailer and one episode and that episode was done in March. So to me, what this is telling me is that this is a brand. Well, sure. And this is a brand new podcaster, somebody new to the whole game, probably their first podcast.
45 And I'm saying that because they're only on Spotify, right? And So what I'm thinking, my assumption is that they use Spotify for Creators because it's free and they didn't take the time to set it up with all the other platforms. Because quite frankly, it's not that easy with Spotify for Creators to, you know, like it is for with Buzz Sprout, where you essentially just click a button, say, yeah, I want to be on that directory. I want to be on that directory. And it for the most part just does it for you. But Spotify for creators? Not so much. Right. I don't even know why it popped up to for me the first the second time I did it and not the first. I didn't even know how I stumbled upon this. I didn't stumble upon it the first time. So that's weird.
30 What one of the suggestions was maybe it's a private podcast and I thought, well, maybe it is, but then you know, yeah, but it's publicly out there Stumble upon. But there is when you bring it up on Spotify, there is some something that looks like a link like right below the name of it on the banner on Spotify. Of course that's not clickable. But if you go maybe into the description, it might be clickable, but it doesn't make any sense. It's a very long with a bunch of random letters and stuff. So it it kind of looks like what a link would look like if it was clickable. So here are my and I want to and I know that I will eventually be going to the clients either today or tomorrow letting him know that this is what I found and what does he want to do? I'm going to, I plan to present him with some alternative names, but seeing that there's only one episode out there and it was back in March, what would you do? Would you reach out to the hosts of the show and say hi, Hey, what you doing?
44 Or would you forgo that all together? What would you do? I thought I would open it up to the room. Yeah, I have all sorts of questions for the room to see where we where somebody should go in a situation like this. And I see Ashley's got her hand up. Before I go to you, Ashley, I also want to put in the chat a colleague, friend of mine in the business, the podcast haven.com, that's Eric Montgomery. He has that name checker. I looked. At it. Yeah, I. Looked there. Yeah. Oh, OK, good. And it didn't come up correct. Weird, 'cause I looked and it came up. I looked this morning, yeah. And it came right up.
25 So weird. Very odd. All right, we're going to go to Ashley and then we're going to go to Sid. Go ahead, Ashley. Good morning. Hey, good morning. I would first see if they also have like a website set up for this podcast and also see if there's a social media accounts that match this podcast, so to speak. And if you can find any contact information, I would, you know, if your client is dead set on that name and this other podcast is clearly not active, doesn't appear to be, I would reach out and say, hey, you know, are you, do you have intentions on continuing this is the situation and go from there.
07 Because in most cases, I would say just try to find another name. But clearly this is a situation where someone started and didn't follow through. And there's a perfectly good name out there. Right. Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly with Ashley to dig even deeper, see if there's websites, social media presence, etcetera. See if those are active. Even if they are, there could be that they faded from everything, not just the podcast. So check that as well. And if I'm in your shoes or in your client's shoes, I personally, I'm a little nervous to go and poke that bear, right? Because you know, a they could say, Oh yeah, we want to get back to that and somebody else wants the name.
50 Oh, we better get back to that. And then all of a sudden they're going to start putting out episodes again. And or even worse, you know, they may, they may now you're on their radar now. And if you go and proceed with that name, maybe then they're going to quickly try to shut that down and. Exactly that would worry me. It's important. It's important to note that the two shows are completely different in topic. The show that exists now is using the word machine in place of the word business. So they are talking about business being like a well oiled machine and stuff like that. Mastering the machine. That's their that is the way that they are using that name. My client, on the other hand, he's talking about, you know, robotics and and stuff like that. Yeah, and we should say none of us here are are attorneys. So you have to take some of what we say with a grain of salt. And we don't have Gordon Firemark here, the podcast lawyer and I'll share this episode with him to get some input and I'll.
57 Reach out to him. Yeah, sure. I'm on Adm basis with Gordon. Cool. Yeah, So so am I. He's actually considering coming to Empowered Podcasting this year as well. He was asking me about it over the weekend. So yeah, we should hear soon if he is going to come. And I know I have a feeling I know what he would say. He would say, you know, either pick a new name or maybe even just try to trademark this name before, you know, if it's not trademarked, you might be able to. And one other question I would have for him. Why is it that, and I, I think I've said this before, but why is it that book titles can be duplicated by different authors, but in podcasting it can't. You can have two book titles by two different, I'm sorry, two different authors writing the same book title and that's OK. I don't get it.
48 Yeah, song titles too. Exactly. So I it's confusing to me why you can't with podcasts. OK, let's see, Sid had. Something that was actually my one of my questions, mark, is are there rules or laws that say you cannot have a podcast that has the same name as someone else? Is that just an unwritten respected rule of the trade, or is that written somewhere that says you cannot have? I do know that there was a podcast that got sued and, and they were presented with a cease and desist and the independent podcast, I don't even remember what the name of it was. It's something like Shatter the Glass or something like that. It was an independent, it was one of us people. And then I think A star came around, a celebrity for some reason.
33 I want to say Christian Bale, but I don't, I'm not 100% on that. So she came out. I was a female celebrity, same name, and the celebrity got a cease and desist and had to alter the name of the of her show. Yeah, And to Sid's question, is there really a written rule somewhere? I mean, look, I'll, I'm just asking ChatGPT, so take this however you want it. ChatGPT says no, there is no actual written rule. And it goes on to say, but here's the fine print. There's no formal registry for podcast names like there is for domain names or trademarks. It says podcast directories like Apple and Spotify don't enforce exclusivity. So you can publish a show with the same name as another show, as some people probably know, and most platforms will allow it.
26 And granted, it will probably confuse some listeners legally. Well, that's just it. Here's the another layer of the onion. Yeah. Is that let's say we use that name. I do not want my clients, listeners to stumble upon the other show and think, Oh my God, this is really terrible. This is not Oh no, you don't turn it off right away. So if it's only on Spotify, right, the likelihood of that happening is very rare because this person's not active. Now it's four months or three months later and this other one's not active. So to me that would say that. And if he's not on any other platform, and I think if you look at most statistics say that most people listen on Apple, right? I mean, so it sounds like it's very, very likely. But I mean, the simple solution is, you know, Mastering the Machine podcast, right?
22 And then he's free and clear and it'll come up in the keyword. I looked on Instagram and there are 4 versions of Mastering Machine but none of them are related to your particular topic and none of them are the guy that is on Spotify. And this is also, this speaks to branding and it's more than just a name. When we're branding our podcast, if if you go with a very clear, distinct brand logo, brand colors, a look, a feel, etcetera, that helps make that distinction. And granted, if it's a first time ever person stumbling on it, they may not recognize that brand yet, but as if they've come across you once, twice, three times, and they're starting to get to know your brand and then they're looking for it on Spotify, they'll see quickly. No, that's not the one I want to go to this other one. So who knows?
14 And I know Dr. is probably it's cooking time. She's making some eggs for the hubby. Nick, I saw your hand up. What did you want to add it? Seems the discoverability as assuming that this isn't a large business that you're going to compete with, which doesn't sound like it is having only a trailer and an episode. The search aspect of it I don't think is as big of an issue because you could have a name that's similar but different. And if that other show was popular, that show might still show up even if you type the words of that of this client's show. Exactly. And I tested this several times with the AI Briefing back when I been keeping up with that. And you could type in the AI briefing and there'd be a ton of other options that popped up, like the AI brief, the brief AI minute, the AI minute, the daily AI brief. A bunch of other options showed up alongside of the AI briefing. And because my show wasn't as popular as the others, mine wasn't the first one that showed up. So I think if mastering the Machine, if your client's show is consistent, there's more episodes coming out, there's going to be very little probability of this older show popping up.
30 It might slip in there on Spotify every once in a while, but I don't think it's going to be as big of an issue considering that this show isn't active and there's clearly not a listener base tuning into this show. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. That's it. I appreciate that strategy. And I'm seeing all sorts of other comments here in the chat with some suggestions about changing the name or Chris. I like what Chris says. Chris says or you call it Mastering the Machine with and you could insert the host name and make that the official name of the podcast or. I'm a big I'm a big believer in the subtitle or the extension. So we plan on having an extension with some keywords in it.
16 Yeah, yeah, I think that helps too, especially if you wanted to take it a step further and get it trademarked and you trademark it as mastering the machine with that tagline. I think that would help both protect you and make a distinction between this podcast and others. Alex, did you have something? Good morning, everybody. In this case, I don't think it's going to be really relevant, but because this podcast seems like it's dead and seems like the person, the origin person or the origin company, whatever, isn't that big. But when you are naming podcasts or whatever, you have to be careful because the big guys have people just looking to protect their trademark.
02 And I say that because my sister had a situation where her website name was similar to a brand and they got a cease and assist order and she was a production company. She her name of her company was 6 of Balls Productions and it was STX and STX is also a brand of lacrosse gear. And she started, it went on for a couple of years. Nothing, nothing, nothing. All of a sudden she got a cease and assist from from them. And they even said, listen, we're not, we're not trying to be jerks about it. We have to protect our trademark. So even if you suggest what Chris said was using that with the person's name, that may not be enough.
49 But I mean, in this case, I don't think it's going to be the situation. But you know, I know people agonize over trying to pick a name and there's reasons for that. It's just that, you know, whether it it it fits right or whatever else, But protecting your trademark is a huge deal. And that's why they go after all these little guys. And it seems like it's insignificant. Like why would why would Coke go after me? I'm not really, I'm not even a mom and pop, I'm a I'm a solopreneur. That's not even profitable, but they have to. And again, that's why it's so important to look at every line angle. Think of it as a baby name.
34 When you pick a baby name, you have to think of every reason a kid would make fun of that name. Before you say I'm going to give my kid that name. I know it sounds wacky, but anybody as a kid understands what I mean. I think that's the biggest problem. I know I may be taking it a different way, but that's that's one of the things. If we didn't go through it, I wouldn't really have said anything, but it does. They will go after you. Thank you Alex. And guess what Dr. with ChatGPT. I was sitting here trying to see if it could help figure out if the name is trademarked and it it's it says it's not but it did find the same show that you're talking about mastering the machine with the two Co hosts and and listen to this. They have more than one episode.
28 What I only saw I saw a trailer and one episode in Spotify. I so it brought me to a link called podcast dot app and found their show, their show page and they have shows from they have want to the teaser and an episode from February and then they have three episodes in March. Really. Those didn't show up in Didn't you look in Spotify with me? Yes, I did. And there was only one, only one in the trailer. Yeah, so interesting. So and maybe it is somewhat private, I don't know. I don't know what they're doing, but they definitely have it. But it is not trademarked, at least at first glance. It's not trademarked so.
16 Adds another something that I need to put on my list of check ChatGPT for titles. I would not even. I wouldn't even approach that had you not done this. Thank you so much. Yeah, you're welcome. And, and I would say, you know, I don't think we should ever trust everything that ChatGPT tells us or an AI model similar to it. But you know, it, it is a great way to kind of get that first step, that first glance. And in this case, it, you know, it found some stuff that we didn't. So it's important to, to search all the angles. And again, I still look, if it's me and this is not advice, This is not, and it's certainly not legal advice. If it's me, I'm moving forward with the name. I don't care that there's this other one out there. Yep, they especially because they have a tagline too. Mastering the machine building systems that drive results if yours is called mastering machine with your own unique tagline.
12 If it's me, I'm going forward with it. That's just how I'm doing ask. For ask for forgiveness, not permission. I know Sid has his hand up but. Yeah. I mean, that's a good point, Alex. I can get on board with that. Yeah, Sid, go ahead. So I agree with Mark, use the name, move on with it. But I did look the guy up on LinkedIn and he's actually in West Jerusalem, Israel. And there's only one image of mastering machine and it was a on his LinkedIn feed and it was a live that he cancelled, a LinkedIn live that he cancelled. So he's not even talking about it. And given that he's in a different country, DRI wouldn't worry about it. I just would move forward and and do it. That's just mine and take the risk of being hit with the cease and desist. Yes, because I don't think they're going to hit you with that.
56 And like Sid saying, I mean, they're in another country that makes things a little more tricky for them to actually be able to follow through on that. So I just, I don't see it happening. And again, especially if you have that distinction with the tagline. The tag tagline, yeah. So talking about the tagline, we thought of even speaking to his niche audience, for instance, putting in words that only they would know. For instance, PLC, which stands for program programmable logic controller. Think of of a of one of those little cars that ride around and you have the remote control in your hand. That would be the brains of the car. So the remote control would kind of be Aplca little bit, but that's something that only his tribe would know. And do you name something with that in mind or do you name it a more?
56 Do you name it something that more general population would get? I mean, if you want to put it somewhere in that tagline, put in that that that special lingo, go for it. But I think it's more important if you're going to use a tagline to make it very clear, straightforward for anybody to see just so that it they know what they're getting into right away. I I don't well. With the cover art and the title they would pretty much. Know. Yeah, I don't think that's necessary. ADRI have a question, I came in late. Sorry if you answered this with this title. It is the website available, I mean is the variation of the website available? All the social media handles available. Yeah, we did talk about that.
43 We did suggest that. And you, you said you did look into that, right? If it is and there's a variation, you could trade as a lot of different things, and I think that's the thing going to six point, you know, just move on. You could trade as a lot of different things and it it could be similar, but different. And I think that's the the main thing is if you have all if you you're building a case just like in anything else. So, you know, if you have everything that goes around that, I I wouldn't really worry about it. And again after for forgives us better than is than asking for permission. Yeah, I just went to the URL mastering themachine.com. It took me to that URL slash Lander and it's a big Gray page. There's nothing on.
31 It. That's what I got too. Yeah, that's what I got too. Nothing on it, yeah, but the domain is taken, which kind of sucks. Ultimately here, I think you've got a few options and I think this is I, I personally would move forward with it. Anyway, to Alex's point, we can ask for forgiveness later, but I just don't see it being an issue. And I might take it a step further. Talk to Gordon Firemark, the podcast lawyer, and ask for some help to get this thing trademarked so that you can own it or your. Client know approximately how much a trademark is. I don't, but I will find out for you. I think it's like 250 bucks.
11 Yeah, that's when I think it's like 250 bucks. Yeah. It's not that expensive. I did it with a brand many, many years ago, and I use an attorney to do it. So it cost me a little bit more, but that was it. You just have to show proof that you're using it and what it's for. That's awesome. OK, yeah. So ChatGPT says base application fee is $350.00. It says this is the standard fee for electronically filing a trademark application. And then it says potential additional fees, $100 per class for applications missing required information. 200 if you're, if you use a free form text description instead of selecting goods and services.
51 So there's a few things that might happen to make it a little more expensive, but ultimately it sounds like 250 to $350.00 to get a trademark. I think that's a an investment that's well worth it. Yeah, Dr. thank you for bringing this one this morning. Well. Thank you. I appreciate all the advice. Yeah, everyone. Hopefully it helps, yeah. Every country I think has their own deal. So even if you did trade market in the US and everything went you know well he may have a quote UN quote case, but it might be, it might not be a case because you have the trademark in this country versus where he is in Israel. Yeah, that's true too. Point. Yep, good point. Sharon has joined us on stage.
33 Sharon, good morning. Did you want to add anything to this? Let's briefly talk about trademarks. I have two thus far, and the first one I did, which was not part of the two I have years ago, probably around 2017. When I did the first one, it did not pass. I did not. I lost all my money and it was about maybe when, when everything was said and done about $700.00, maybe 6:50. And that happened, I think because I obviously didn't know what I was doing #1 and #2 it's extremely technical when it comes to the classes of what you're doing.
14 So I hired a lawyer with the first, both of them hired a lawyer and it ended up costing me about 1500. And let me tell you, it was worth every dime. It was she needed my website. She needed to see what I had on my website, including the logo and how long I was doing it, etcetera, etcetera. So I don't want to dissuade anybody, but I just want to tell you my experience regarding trademarks. Sharon, I really appreciate you saying that. Thank you so much. Sure. And Sharon, any is there a specific reason why you say it was $1500 well spent? Did something happen since then that it it helped you, protected you? No, nothing happened.
58 I think I well, I know I say that because number one, I didn't need the aggravation of trying to figure out things. Now with you, some of you, you might have that mindset where everything just clicks for you when it comes to checking the right boxes. It did not for me. So just having her do everything and some sometimes she actually got back to me and she said, what is this thing? What do you mean by this? Make this more clear. Things like that. I think I I say that because of that Mark. Totally makes sense. Yeah. Thank you. Sure. There's just a a knowing that I'm protected, you know? I think that Gordon Firemark, I don't know this for sure and I think that he charges a little less than that than what Sharon paid, but probably still in the neighborhood of around $1000. Don't quote me on that, but I believe that's, I believe that's around his fee is around $1000 or so. Sid, go ahead.
07 Thank you, Sharon for sharing your experience. Mom's a little bit different, but Mark, I do think that having Gordon come back and talk about trademarks would be a really, really great conversation. Or if he talks about it at the event to help bring some clarity about whether you should or you shouldn't trademark things. If you're only doing one thing with that name, probably shouldn't do it. But if you're going to build an entire ecosystem in your business around that name and you're going to have coaching programs or educational programs or events around that name, maybe you should think about trade marking. So it just be interesting conversation for him to come share with us about that. I agree. I agree it's been a while and maybe we'll link to the episode when he did join us a long time ago.
49 I can't even remember if we were actually a podcast or only live streaming when he joined us the first time. So if we have that episode, Ashley, you and I may have to do a little digging and if we have it, we'll put it in there. The show notes today. If not, either way, we'll definitely ask Gordon back here and of course, have him come. We'll do everything we can to have him come to the conference as well. We're super early for Gordon. He's in California. Oh, that's true. So I may have to do an exclusive with him and then share it with everybody later. Yeah, I don't mind doing that. So what I might do is coming soon. I may be asking all of you to provide your questions for Gordon and then I can take those and do a one-on-one interview with Gordon. Great guy, by the way.
35 OK, let's see here. Lots of great suggestions in our chat. If you are listening via podcast or if you're watching via YouTube, by the way, like my new haircut. If you are any one of those things, you can, you can easily come join us here on Clubhouse and be a part of the chat, add your own insights and see some of the great insights that people share throughout the morning. I see that Dan or Heidi has posted a link earlier from there's a pod news article all about dealing with the same name and trademarks. So there's lots of resources out there, not just us. And I would encourage somebody, especially with legal stuff, to make sure you're exploring all of your options and all of the resources that are out there. Can I ask is there a way to save the chat or do I just have to go on mute and type?
27 Yes, you can go back and get it in the in the replays here on clubhouse and maybe I'll even find a way that we can include it in the show notes. Don't hold me to it, but I'll see what I can do. Otherwise I will direct people to where to go. No problem. Dr. All right, so it's Friday and we have a lot of time. So I'm going to ask We've got people here listening live in the audience. Please come up, come join us and because it's time to share your wins from this past week. And as I like to remind you, don't judge your own wins. Hey, I know sometimes we hear somebody share a win and it's exciting and then we feel like, oh, how are we going to follow that up? It doesn't matter.
13 We are all on our own journeys, on our own paths and your win is just as important as the next person's. So I would love for you guys. I see you guys here in the audience. I'm going to invite you up to speak and share any win that you have. It doesn't even have to be about your podcast, although you get bonus points if it is about your podcast. I will share podcasting related wins as well. I am stalling. If you haven't, If you haven't figured it out yet, 'cause I'm inviting each and every one of you individually to come up and speak and share your wins from this past week. Don't be shy. And we thankfully have a team that will kick things off and maybe get the juices flowing. By the way, Janae is here with us. Janae, I didn't think you were going to be able to join us today.
03 We are sharing our wins from the week. You're just in time and I will kick it off since you're here, Janae, because my first win of the week was yesterday. Well, the first week I'm the first win I'm sharing. I joined Janae on his show yesterday and we recorded 2 podcast episodes that I'm really excited about and I joked with him at the end. We all know Janae now and know that he has dozens and dozens and dozens of episodes that he's recorded and hasn't released yet. He releases a couple times a week and he still has dozens of episodes. So I joked, I said, so will this episode come out in like 2 years, Three years from now and we'll see. But I think, I think he said he's going to try to publish them before the conference because we did have a great talk about the conference.
56 Hello, Janae. Hey, good morning, everybody. Thank you, Mark. That was that was a fun one for sure. And funny enough, right after Janae, we can't hear you. Your connection is very poor. We'll try to come back to you, Janae, because I do want to hear what you have to say. So another win for me this past week was we had our Empowered Podcasting conference meeting with our team of really all volunteers, which I'm so grateful for that everybody is volunteering their time and efforts into this conference. And we shared revealed with that group our Empowered Podcasting Conference app that we are building ourselves. Last year we did not have an event app and it was probably the one of the only things that I was disappointed about with the event because we had lots of on the fly changes that were happening and we couldn't easily communicate it. It had we had an app that would have been no problem. We could have just sent a message through the app and people would have seen or even if we didn't send any notification, but if there was a schedule change, which there were, we could easily make those adjustments on the fly and people could see that happening in real time. So it was and also we wanted something where people could more easily connect with one another. Those apps are great for networking and such. We looked for lots of different types of apps out there and we were quoted lots of different
26 prices, all well with well past our budget, something we could not afford. And if you are an AI enthusiast like myself, you know that there are now options out there where AI will write all the code for you and we'll create an app for you. And my operations manager of Ironic Media, who's been my right hand person through this whole thing, she decided to jump in and try to use one of these apps and just think of it as which by the way, ChatGPT does it too. She didn't use ChatGPT. She's using base 44. But think of it the same way you would use ChatGPT. She literally told it, I want to create an event app for our podcasting conference.
14 She even gave it an example of another app that we really like that we would love to use, but it's just not in our budget. And boom, I mean, within a few minutes, it had the first iteration of this app that was almost fully functional. It it definitely needed some work. There were definitely some things that didn't work. And it's, again, just like ChatGPT, all you got to do is tell it, yeah, this isn't working properly. And it goes, it checks its own code. It fixes the code. Or you can say, yeah, I don't like the placement of this. I want you to move it down to the bottom of the page and it does it. And this thing is, I'm really excited about it because it's not costing us a lot of money and it's going to work the same way. I think the only difference may be is that we're not going to necessarily submit it to the app stores because who knows how long that takes.
07 I, I hear it takes a long time to get accepted, approved. So we will probably do it as a web-based app, which I'm totally cool with because we know that the Internet works great there at that hotel because we were there last year. So I'm very excited about that. If you couldn't tell. Also, I had several calls with several colleagues this week in the podcast industry about their involvement with the conference, whether they're going to be attending and speaking. I already alluded to, I spoke with Gordon Firemark, Seth Silvers, who's been a guest on this show before. He I had a call with him yesterday, lots of names that are doing big things in the industry and I couldn't be more excited about that. And lastly, really excited about the fact again with Empowered Podcasting, I've been receiving several video testimonials from people that are giving us permission to put them out there on social media.
05 We've started doing that and those are working way more than I thought they would. They are creating some buzz. We're getting more followers, we're getting more sign ups to the conference. It's been a real success so far. And if you were at the conference and would be interested in doing that as well, doing a video testimonial, please reach out to me, let me know. I'll tell you what we need. But it's pretty simple, just anything from a 15 second to 62nd testimonial of your personal experience at the conference, what you loved about it. And then we'll put it on social media, tag you, add you as a collaborator in the proper platforms, etcetera. OK.
46 I took up a lot of time and I'd like to hear from more of you. So we're going to go down the line starting with DRDR. Please share a win with us from your week. I have been part of a community for quite a while now and the creator has put in a course within the community about newsletters, about e-mail marketing. And so I'm part of the, it's a 21 day challenge and I'm part of the challenge and. So I feel good about that. And the course that he has created is very good, really short videos and there's a workbook that goes with it and it goes into detail and so it's very good.
31 My only challenge I'm putting this out to everyone in the room is trying to understand how I marry my domain name and my e-mail platform together. I think I need help in that, but that's about it. There's something technical that I have to do with the the domain or something? So Dr. Yeah, I do know what you're talking about. And I think that you didn't cross paths with a somebody who used to be more involved joining us regularly in the mornings more when we were live streaming versus live streaming and podcasting. Her name is Mallory Mallory Durek and she she helps me with some of my websites and she'd probably be a great person to connect you with.
18 Oh, thank you, yes, very much. And also, Mark, I wanted to just do a shout out for you. I've seen your recent posts that you did with the talking babies. I love them. I didn't want to let that go unnoticed. Thank you. You know, I, for whatever reason, avoided that trend and I'm just looking for fun ways to put out our content and get attention while I'm doing it it. And so yeah, it this Riverside has added some of those filters where you can make yourself a baby, make yourself look like a puppet. I did that one and that one just came out really freaky looking. I posted it anyway because why not? And there's all sorts of other animations that you can do for yourself.
06 You can turn yourself into all sorts of different things, including I think a panda bear as well. So I'm just playing around with those. And it was actually a teaser. It's what I do when I first go live before I go live on Clubhouse. I go live on YouTube and give a little teaser to that live audience. And that was the clip that you saw was my what me speaking to the live YouTube audience. Thank you for the shout out, Dr. Let's go to Ashley. Ashley, good morning again. Please share Win and with us from your week. Hey y'all, always. Led to be a pad to bear, you know. My win for this week is that I got to work on my own podcast, Sunshine State Showcase. One of my clients, she was supposed to have a guest appearance this week that ended up falling through, so I was left with a big chunk of time like. Well, what do I?
55 Do I'll work on my own podcast. So that's what I did and that's my win for the week. Congratulations, love hearing that you're back at it with the podcast. I know you have become very busy with your clients stuff, so it's cool to hear that you've found some time to do that. Sid, we're coming to you. Please share wins with us from your week. I have a podcast that goes live on Monday that's my guest. The website link has already posted it so people are already listening to it through my website but that's a risk. I did not tell her not to post it. But anyways, I, I was really worried about that episode and I told my editor like, go ahead and do your thing and then put it up on but but not listen to it. So I've blocked out some time so I could listen to it. And I had a notepad with me, my pen ready to write down the time stamps where we need to edit it.
45 Because I felt like it was going to be really weird because my Rd. caster crashed out in the middle of the recording. So we had to stop 1 recording and start another recording. And so she had two recordings to put together. So it was honestly just a cluster of a recording. So I wasn't feeling really good about it. And then I listened to it and I was like, Dang, this is actually really good. It came together really nice. So that's a huge win. I will do an anticipation when next week is a big event in the furniture industry called Neo Con starts on Monday. I leave tomorrow morning headed up and it's an opportunity for us to talk about our new business and meet people. I got a crazy field schedule so I will not be here Monday through Wednesday of next week, but I'm super excited about this event and seeing all the long time friends and new friends and getting what I refer to as hallway hugs. So good forward to to that.
35 So that's my anticipation when for the week. And I love it. Thank you, Sid. And will this be one of the conferences that you're going to be wearing your Ask Me About My Podcast shirt? I'm taking it with me and tend to wear it on Wednesday, which is really the quiet today of the show, but it's also the day you actually really get to have two real conversations. Monday is the crazy day of the show and then Tuesday people start leaving and then Wednesday it's a little bit more quiet. So I'm going to wear it on Wednesday, please. Please get a picture, we'd love to see it and we'll do. Isn't it interesting to? I've certainly been there with this show and other podcasts where I feel like that was not good and I don't know if I want this to go out and then I go back and listen and I'm like, oh, wait, I was wrong.
19 It's great. I wonder what it is about that, why we sometimes judge it so hard and then we go back and listen and then we're really proud of it. I don't know, I'm just talking out loud, but I just find that interesting when that happens. Sharon, good morning again. Do you want to share some wins with us? Well, yes, I will. Mark, May I just mention one thing, please? Regard. Trademarks, I wanted to revisit that again. Someone said something and I was like, oh, I forgot to say that before COVID, it took about a year to get my get trademarks Now it's averaging about 18 months. Wow, yes, yes. And my lawyer said that that was because of just some changes and some things that are done differently. Now I have no idea what those are, so I just wanted to say that.
12 OK, I. Appreciate that. Thank you. Problem Dr. OK, my win is this. I am having a challenge on Clubhouse. I've been having this challenge, it's called the five day stage speaking challenge, and it is every month. What I decided to do is change it to Zoom. I think that's a win. Let me tell you why, because Clubhouse is changing things up and no problem with that. If it's benefiting us, if it's for the good. Regarding the anonymous avatars that were that you can use to get into rooms, Mark, you actually have someone listening and on the bottom of your screen anonymously.
58 And I don't even see that. I know you don't until you get the. Upgrade I see, but. This is the thing with that. Well, let me tell you about my win, OK, Anyway, what I decided to do was take that challenge off of Clubhouse and go to Zoom because I don't like that anonymous thing there. And to me that's a win because if it were the old Sharon, I would have overthought it over or overthinking, overthinking, overthinking. Not to do it, not to do it. So just the shift in the mindset for me is a win. So I'm going to celebrate. I appreciate hearing that because I debate every so often whether or not we move from clubhouse to the, the new app chatter, because it's got a lot of bells and whistles that I'm really excited about. Now, I think my, I have a legitimate reason why I don't quite pull the trigger yet.
47 Well, I have many, but one is, is I don't feel like they've gotten all the bugs worked out yet. So I'd rather wait until that's taken care of. But also the other reason is, is that I, I, I don't want to rock the boat. We have a great community that we've built here. It doesn't grow as much as I'd like it to because I don't think Clubhouse is growing as much as I'd like it to. But I don't like to rock the boat with, with a community that's in a place that they feel very comfortable. I appreciate you sharing that because I am an overthinker, especially when it comes to stuff like that. I'm going to jump the line real quick because Janae is back and we're going to try again. And yeah, he's waving his hand, so let's check in with him.
28 Janae, let's hear your connection. Is it any better? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. He's in the studio now. Good morning, everyone. Yeah, so prayers ended early. So I was like, oh, I have still time to jump in. And it was a fun conversation yesterday. So that's my win for the week as well. And on top of that, a friend of mine who runs these big events, he's doing another one in August. And he's like, hey, I was thinking, what if you do a master podcast mastermind At the end of my event, I'm like. Oh, that's an awesome idea. So we're working on putting that together. It's in. It's going to be sometime in August as well. But yeah, super excited for all the amazing wins everybody's shared. And Mark, I love the idea of the app. I was actually telling my son check out BASE 44 because he's been thinking of building some apps as well. Oh, yeah.
20 I bet kids will come up with some great ideas for apps. That's a that's such a great idea, Janae, sharing it with your kids. And I'm going to share a win of yours. You celebrated a birthday this week, got lots of birthday messages. I know this because we talked about it off offline and and yeah, so happy belated birthday again to you, Janae. All right, we're going to go back in line and check in with Jackie, who we haven't talked to a lot or at all this week. Jackie, good morning. Do you want to share some wins with us? Good morning everybody. I know I'm like a ghost in here lately. Sorry. I literally work at this time almost every day of the week. So I get it.
01 I jump in when I can. So my wins. I just revisited all of my podcasting platforms, I guess you can say for the first time in weeks because I've been insane and it's actually not doing bad for me. Not posting forever. And I laugh because like, I have really been out of it, guys. Like I really have been. And I miss being in here. Trust me. Like I still promote it. I think maybe that's why even I work at Orangetheory, I'm a coach and I tell everybody about it. And I keeps, I mean, I just saw all of my stuff is up even higher than it was the last time I looked. And so that's proof right there that if you keep, if you have the Evergreen content, it'll grow. Even.
49 Just with word of mouth, Oh, my son wants orange juice. But when of the week I taught my first solo class next week, I have 17 classes going on and I am so excited. And it is teaching me so much more about speaking, so much more about coming from my heart, authenticity. I'm so excited to put it on my podcast when it comes back out within the next couple months when life starts to give me time again. But yeah, just wanted to get up here, show my face again, tell everybody I miss you so much. I am still here. I'm just working my butt off and where I can't. Oh, another win.
31 I think I got a job at a salon. So I'm going back to doing hair everybody. Nice. So back to doing hair. Also now a coach at Orangetheory. You're doing all the things, Jackie. Congratulations. Leveling up here, Yes, I am. And next is leveling up that podcast and I'm going to level it up in a way that I will tell you about when it's ready. So yay. Awesome. Well, good to hear your voice. Thanks for being here. Thanks for making time and let's keep it moving. Let's go to Dan. Dan, good morning to you. Please share some wins with us. Good morning. So I'll be brief today. Thank you. By the way, So I was able to acquire a new executive coaching client this week.
15 So that's pretty exciting. And I learned how to ride A1 wheel this week, which isn't something I had on the agenda. So it's been a fun week. Nice, and you saw a big sea turtle. Oh yeah, there was a nice sea turtle on the beach yesterday morning. She'd come up to lay her eggs a bit later than normal, so it's nesting season here and they're normally in the night time hours or before sunrise. But she was right at sunrise and we were able to watch her return to the ocean. Yeah, so cool. Dan shared that video with me personally, and I saw you put it on social media as well. Very cool, Dan. Thank you for sharing that with me too, by the way. Let's see.
57 Oh, Julie is on stage. Julie, good morning to you. Welcome. Do you want to share some wins with us? I do. Thank you for having me. It's just Janae left, I guess. Yeah. Well, I think he shared. But I think then he had to go. Oh, I know. I wanted to say thank you to him because I really had such an amazing experience this week. I'm so excited about it. My podcast is called Stay on Course Ingredients for Success and I normally tape right in my house. And yesterday I did my first live in person podcast at Bourbon Steak in Delray Beach and I interviewed the executive chef and we did a live podcast and I interviewed him. We did like a tape, tasted food and everything.
39 So like there's this whole food segment in there. I'm so excited about it. I call it my Scenes from the Table. It's going to be a special series that I'm going to start, you know, intertwine with my podcast. So I'm so excited about it. Big win for me this week. Thank you. Yeah, you're welcome. And I just have to tease for a second. Did you just say tape that you taped it? Sorry, I I I recorded it on my iPhone. I don't even know what to say about that. Languaging, I'm telling you that's what I was going to ask you. What, what technical? I mean, what equipment did you use to do that live? And you just said it was on your iPhone. Yeah, we used the iPhone, but I also had my regular camera, my my good camera with me and like a, a microphone on top. But Janae told me that I should use my iPhone with Rode. You know, the Rode, the wireless mics, the wireless mics. So we had two wireless handheld mics to the iPhone. That's really what we meet.
39 We taped it on a taped it. We, what do I say recorded? We recorded it on the iPhone. And yes, see, everybody knows how old I am now. So that's don't accept that. Don't accept that judgment of use of the word tape. You do you do you. All right, thank you. I mean, the bottom line is that we were live, you know, and we were at a restaurant. We we created a really nice relationship with these guys. Like Mark Wahlberg was at the restaurant twice in the month of May. So he's in the same room. He's got video on his Instagram in the same room that we did our recording in.
20 And it was just like, it was a very different experience. So this week was crazy. I also was interviewed on TV this week. So like I was live, I had to have hair and makeup done. I felt like a little bit like a a mild celebrity this week, but it was really fun. And now I have to get get on a a zoom call and get back to work. So thanks everybody. So, so cool that Mark Wahlberg taped in the same place that you taped. Yes, Mark Wahlberg taped in the same. I'm going to like, now that's going to be my new thing. I'm just going to be taping everywhere. I'm only teasing you, I think, because just like I think it was just within this past week, my wife used the same terminology. I think she said something about videotaping and I was I said, whoa, what? What era are you in right now?
05 That's OK. That's us Gen. Xers. That's our lingo. I get it. I'm just having fun with you, Julie. All right, I'm going to Brian. Brian, good morning. Would you like to share a win from your week? Good morning, Mark. Yes, I did see your hair cut. I briefly checked. YouTube. Nice, thank you for checking. When was yesterday? So I finally made it out of New Jersey without immediate family as an adult. I went to a conference yesterday with my director. In New York we took the train. I was there for a few, just a few hours. It was not an all day thing, It was just during the morning and got to see Times Square and.
51 We had a nice. Hotel so I'm feeling more comfortable with the train thing. Still battling my mom a bit with some things with regards to planning stuff out and other life things, but it's just part of life. So that's what I have to share. Thank you so much. Thank you, Brian, congratulations on your wins and sounds like a cool experience and I appreciate you sharing it with us. OK gang, listen, we are done for the week and back on Monday as we are every Monday through Friday at 7:00 AM Eastern live on Clubhouse, live on YouTube. Please come join us. And if you can't, that's OK. Just go check out the podcast replay. We put it out just a few hours later. So please join us and until Monday, make it a great weekend. Everybody take care.
