337 - Do You Really Need a Consent Form?

What would you do if you accidentally left your verbal consent disclaimer in a published episode? Would you take it down, replace it with the corrected episode file or let it slide? And what do you do about it if it's on YouTube where they don't let you replace episode files?? Those are the questions we’re tackling today from the listener mailbag. We weigh the pros and cons of verbal versus written consent, and share tips on editing videos after the fact. We touch on playlist fixes and how much order matters in your uploads. As always, we wrap up the week with our wins from the week and celebrate every bit of momentum that moved us forward.

0:05 Good morning, podcasting, Morning chat. Today is Friday, July 11th, 2025, and today we're tackling A mailbag question about accidentally leaving guest disclaimers in videos and whether or not to fix them. Plus, of course, we're sharing our wins from this past week. So if you're listening live on Clubhouse, hit the share button, bottom left hand side of the screen and share it. However, Clubhouse lets you. And if you're listening via podcast, please share this episode with a fellow podcaster. And now give us about 30 seconds and we'll get things rolling. Thanks for being here. Morning again podcasting Morning chap, thanks so much for being here.

1:24 I am your host Mark Ronick and on stage with me currently we have my Co hosts Dr. Fay, producer Ashley Feller, Amanda Sharp. Good morning again podcasting Morning chap, thanks so much for being here. I am your host Mark Ronick and on stage with me currently we have my Co hosts Dr. Fay, producer Ashley Feller, Amanda Sharp and Nick Nallback. I'm hoping Sid Meadows is joining us today. I don't think his Europe trip up. Yep, there he is. Before we kick off, just wanted to say last night, those of you who know me what relatively well know I love my movies, my superhero movies, my Star Wars movies. I went last night to go see the new Superman movie and I will say that I'm no spoilers and I will say that it's a fun movie.

2:12 I enjoyed it. I had a fun time and was a little disappointed. It's just doing what these comic book movies are doing a lot more of lately and just trying to do too much. I think the superhero movies that the ones that have become really staples icons, the ones that really were popular are those ones that it's just the superhero in the movie mainly, right? It's just that person who's, you know, not only struggling to beat the bad guy, but also has, you know, human like challenges along the way, right. And and it's this movie. He absolutely had a human like challenge throughout the whole movie, But it there wasn't a lot of substance to it.

2:58 It just kind of there was this overarching theme as far as what Superman was dealing with personally. And it's just, I don't know it, it was a little too corny for me, I guess. So I'm a little bummed about it because I was really hoping this would kind of set the superhero movie genre back on track. And I don't really personally feel that way again. I would, I love these movies and I would see it again. It's fun. It just didn't really pack the punch that I was hoping for. So there. You know what? The fact that you do love these movies put so much more emphasis and importance on your. You know what I mean?

3:40 Yes, 'cause I am a little, I tend to be a little more forgiving with these movies because I, I just love them so much. I just have such a good time. Takes me back to being a kid. So yeah, that's true. But you know, if you're excited to go see it, go see it. I'm sure you'll have a fun time. Just my I don't go in with this high of expectations as I had. All right, so today we want to dig into a couple of things. So first Dr. found something on Reddit that we thought we'd throw out at you and hear what you have to say. Then I want to go to a mailbag question that I found in our own Facebook group that came last night by Chris. Not any Chris here, but a gentleman named Chris who is a regular over there.

4:32 So we'll get to that too. So first let me go to Dr. And then, of course, we'll get to the main question of the morning that was inspired by something earlier this week from Sid. Go for it, Dr. OK, so this question comes from Reddit and it is from Mountain Mix 3618. And he or she, I don't want to make any assumptions, asks if Apple Podcasts disappeared tomorrow, what would you do? So this should be like a rapid fire kind of kind of answers. Now I will go on to say he or she says just a hypothetical, but it made me think if Apple shut down podcast tomorrow, where would you shift your strategy? Spotify, YouTube, private feeds?

5:21 Just trying to get a read on where podcasters think the future lives. So would anyone like to take a stab? All right, Amanda's going to go first. Go ahead, Amanda. Good morning. I would throw every one of those options out the window and just focus and go 100% all on social media. And put the long talk. Like everything on there, every single piece of content. I would have sworn you would have just gone straight to YouTube. Well, that's I would consider that part of like social media I guess. Yeah, Isn't that funny that like, I I often think about that, that YouTube gets lumped into social media, but Apple and Spotify don't. But they're really the same kind of platform, just, you know, in a little bit of a different way.

6:04 Well, I think with YouTube, you can leave the comments, you can like it. There's a little bit more. Up until recently, that was the major difference between, say, Spotify or Apple. I know there's more engagement options now, but yeah I would just go social media because if one of them go away you still have the others. OK, that's fair. And anyone else? Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Dr. What about you? Well, I didn't quite know. I would have thought Spotify, but then I went on to read some of the answers in Reddit and of course the best answer of all, it made me change my mind. It's from Danny Brown from Captivate, and he says always your own website, that's where it should be. That's a great point.

6:54 Yeah. That's a great, great point. Yeah. I mean. My new answer. Thank you, Danny Brown. But the question really is though, yes, I think as far as strategically, yeah, go more in on your website at that point. But at the same time, I think it's harder for people to find your website then maybe find you on social media. I don't know. I mean, it depends on your SEO strategy of course. Yeah, I would guess that you'd really have to up your promotional, yeah, aspect of your show and of your website. Yeah, we encourage your website because that's your home base. You have that control, the most control over that, especially over social media. So we want, you know, we want you to focus on that too.

7:36 And I think social media is a promotional strategy that you can't really ignore either. Dan is on stage. Let's check in with Dan. Good morning to you, Sir. Do you want to weigh in on this? I wouldn't do much at all because I'm fortunate to use, well Buzz Sprout, and they make it really easy to default to other podcast player entities. So if Apple Podcasts went away, people would likely migrate to another player or to YouTube as was already mentioned. And I don't know that I'd see much more difference now. I will add though, that recently I've seen a spike in downloads that has been a result of joining the odd match network.

8:21 Oh, that's cool. Yeah. So that has been a huge player in and it's really competitive with the downloads on Apple. So that's been really good. No wait a second, I'm kind of confused. Why is that? Isn't pod match supposed to be like you get you get guests and you also put yourself out as a guest? Yeah, it's a matchmaker. It's a matchmaking. Yeah. So they also have a network, right? So recently Alex, a couple months ago announced a network, a pod match network that you can be a part of it, especially I think if you are a pod match user, then you can be part of the network. Actually, one of the first shows, the podcasting morning chat was one of the first shows to be on that network and we're still there today.

9:07 And then more recently, Alex announced that he had figured out a way to get us more real listeners to our podcasts and for specifically for his podcast network. And yeah, a lot of people are starting to report that they're seeing a difference. It's hard for me to say if we're if we're seeing a difference, especially just because our numbers have been skewed. Skewed is kind of the wrong word, but I can't think of a better one. So you've been skewed ever since we did the Steve from Blue's Clues episode. So that's really where I've seen a big bump for us. And now it's hard to say where or if pod match is contributing to those numbers lately.

9:51 So we'll that we'll wait and see on that. But that's very cool to hear from Dan that that that's working well for him as far as pod match in the network goes. And I think Dan's right too, in the sense that I think for many of us, we might hear this question that that Dr. found on Reddit and say, well, nothing really changes if we're on already more than one platform. But I do think then maybe your strategy changes as that at that point, especially because if Apple Podcast goes away tomorrow, that means there are a lot of podcast consumers out there that need a new home. And so you've got to direct them to that new home. It's your responsibility, your strategy.

10:32 How are you going to get them to go find you on that other platform? Because they're probably used to just using, in this scenario, just used to using Apple Podcasts. So now you want to direct them to their new home. I saw Sid wanted to add something. And good morning, Sid. Earlier when you just popped in the room, I was going to ask you, aren't you going away soon with your wife for a little vacation? Yes, we are going away soon. It's next Thursday night we leave, headed to Europe. We'll be gone for 12 days. Nice. Yeah, 12 days. Yeah, we're looking forward to it because she's already stressing out about how to pack and what to pack, the two outfit today and all that kind of stuff. But yeah, we leave.

11:13 We leave in a week. This time next week we'll be in Barcelona, Spain. That's cool, and you know, you talk about her stressing about packing, but I feel like packing is a thing for you too. Maybe that's just because of your videos. I don't stress about it. I'm an organized Packer. I wanted to add a couple of things. First off, with I'm not a member of Pod Match. I obviously follow Alex and know what he's doing. But I think the thing that's important about what Dan just talked about is first and foremost, Pod Match is a community, yes. And it sounds like Dan has been rewarded by that community for joining that community by people engaging in and listening to his podcast, which is fantastic. That's one of the benefits of joining a community. So I think first and foremost, you have to remember it's a community.

12:02 Network is second, finding guest is second, right? It's our third or whatever, but it's really a community first. And then to the listening platform. I mean, I think because I'm an audio guy, I would probably go to Spotify to start listening to my shows that I have in my feed to listen to every week, my regular list that I'm, you know, consuming. But as it relates to my show specifically, I would do exactly what Dan also said, which is lean more heavily into my website. Because right now when I look at my analytics spot and see the Apple is my first top download. My website is my second top downloads. There are a lot of people go to my website and listen to the embedded player on my website already. So I would lean in heavily in the marketing of going directly to the landing page for each episode. All right, there's there you go.

12:52 Another vote for website. Love that. I see Nick is agreeing with you there as well. What about you, Nick? I'm curious, where would you go if Apple went away? What would be the strategy? Where would you direct your audience? My strategy has always been sending people back to my website. That's been always the goal. Like if they listen on Apple, Spotify, go for it. Like wherever you're going to listen to you. But every time I came out with an episode, my goal was to get them back onto my website. So that strategy for me wouldn't change at all. If you think about it, if Apple Podcasts went away today, it wouldn't necessarily be on you to find a new platform for them to listen to.

13:34 As long as you are using your podcast host, you're getting your podcast on all of the available directories that are available to you. They're most likely going to be able to find you on any of those platforms. Yeah. OK. So it's up to them, the user to basically decide what platform do they want to use instead of Apple podcast, right. It's my yeah. I do wonder, I do agree with you and I wonder, you know, if we as hosts, if we're asking our audience to listen in a specific place, wherever that is, your website, YouTube, etcetera. If we keep encouraging that, I wonder if I wonder what percentage would actually go that way and would listen, you know, despite maybe the player that they prefer. I wonder if we can sway the audience to go use the player of our choice and how we would do that. I think maybe that's another conversation because we've got a full plate today.

14:26 So let me keep things moving if you don't mind. Next, I want to jump into the mailbag. This is a question that comes from Chris, Chris B. Well, you know what? He publicly posted it so I can say his last name, Chris Baker, and he posted it in our Facebook group Empowered Podcasting. If you want to go find that on Facebook. Chris asks. I include a disclaimer at the beginning of recordings for guest consent, but I forgot to cut it out. Actually, and this is an abbreviated version here, I summarized it. I thought I would go that direction, but I actually want to read the whole thing to you. So he says he asks his guests during the beginning of the recording. So he hits record and he asks them. He says do I have your permission to record, upload and use this in perpetuity?

15:17 I wait for a yes and then officially start the show. And then he goes on here to say I forgot to cut the disclaimer on two different shows recently. I can easily fix this on audio sites by cutting this section and then uploading it again. Then he says it doesn't work this way on YouTube, run rumble and some other platforms. He says all I can do is delete everything and then re upload everything. I would lose all the views and comments plus the video would now be out of order. Although he could do something with a playlist if he wanted to to correct the order and we can get into that too. And lastly he says I'm trying to figure out how I missed these two videos.

16:01 I'm also wondering if I should just leave them up there as is. Will anyone care? To their credit, Odyssey ODYS EE does make it possible to replace the video file without deleting the video entirely. And I am not familiar with Odyssey or how that works, but that's an interesting, interesting suggestion from Chris and what he's going to do. But I'm. Yeah, I don't know those details. So let's pick this apart because it's kind of multifaceted. And I think it's important that we dig into everything. So there's so many different directions. 1st, it's like, and I know probably no one here can answer this unless you've talked to a lawyer before, but does that suffice? Asking for verbal consent as opposed to written consent? And he didn't explain if he in fact also has them sign something for their consent.

16:53 But let's assume in this instance that that's how he does it. If anybody has heard, if that's enough, let me know. My guess is it's probably not, but let me check in. Dr. wants to add something. Go ahead, Dr. I do think it is enough, just the way that he framed it, blah blah blah blah in perpetuity. Is this good for you? Yes or no? And then they say yes I do. I think it's good enough. I wonder if it could hold up in court. I think it could. I mean, I didn't know. I can't imagine why it wouldn't. There's only one time that I had to use this like in instead of because I usually do a contract for speakers. And the only time that I had, there was a speaker that was leery about signing a contract.

17:41 She was very, very kind of homespun and the contract thing scared her. Oh my God, this is like really serious, not serious, but you know, And so before the interview, I said, look, I said I like to use these as a training thing for, you know, my fellow new producers coming on the scene. And so would that be OK with you in perpetuity? And she said, oh, yeah, that's fine. And I said great. And then we continued on with the interview that. Makes sense. Oh, who is that? Alex? I just, I just kind of googled it and they said, you know, both verbal and written consent are considered legal. OK.

18:21 It's just harder to prove. Yeah, it is consent. And Mike Short is in the chat agreeing with you as well. He says it's a record of a verbal contract. Verbal contracts are binding. So there you go. Amanda, you wanted to chime in? Go ahead. Well, I would have always assumed that you a verbal recorded, yes, would have been enough. But if all the conversations that I have with say companies when I'm on the phone, they'll say, is it OK if this recording was being recorded? And so I feel like if companies are doing that, companies that have some serious lawyers behind them, if that seems to be enough, I think just on a surface level we should be fine. Totally agree with you there.

19:03 That's an excellent point. And nobody has though mentioned what about the fact that AI can pretty much clone our voices at this point. I have a feeling maybe verbal consent could change over time. I it it's not going anywhere at this moment. But, you know, to get an on the phone or over the Internet. Verbal consent these days is getting a little more muddy because of AI. Yeah, go ahead, Amanda. So was forgery, right? So that will just become like verbal forgery, I think. So it won't necessarily I think not change. I just think there's going to become laws that are are going to echo what, you know, just general forgery would be.

19:46 So I don't think we ever can control it. They'll just have to be laws evolving to protect consumers. OK, Yeah, I think that's a good point. Forgery. Yeah, they would just handle it like forgery. Go ahead, Sid I. Just have a question about this because isn't the fact that. You're actually on the show being recorded the actual consent itself, without being recording a consent or signing a document. The fact that you're on the show being recorded in itself is consent, is it not? It it is, I suppose. Again, we are not lawyers, FYI, and I suppose it is. However, you know, the whole I said it right the first time, but the point is, is that people use the content that's recorded in a lot of different ways, right? They're not just putting up the the content as recorded. A lot of times, most, many of us are editing things and some, and maybe a bad edit or an intentional edit might take something out of context or might be sound like it was manipulated into something that the person wasn't trying to say. Or again, back to the out of context thing. You isolate a certain portion of what they say, put it out there, and what if that it starts to damage the guest's reputation? Then they may come after you at that point. So it's maybe more about when you're asking for consent. It's also about the way in which you're using the content. You're asking for permission to use it however the heck you want.

21:17 So can we do so in former poll? Then you can move on. I'm just curious. Like raise of hands or thumbs up. How many of you actually use a consent form, either verbal or written, for your show, for your guest? I'm just curious in this ring. I do. I'll say that just to fill the silence while everybody's giving their emojis. I definitely do when I've had guests on, you know, when I do those one-on-one guest interviews, I definitely do. It looked like most people said that they do here in the room. There were a couple that said no. Anyone on stage. If you said no will you come off mic for a second because I forgot who did? Amanda said no. Or Alex, go ahead. Yes, I don't have a consent. OK.

21:59 I don't have a consent. You don't worry about it. No, I don't, OK. Because at the end of the day, people are saying yes to the podcast. And if they've got kind of like what Sid is talking about, like if they're there and they're recording and we can talk about the, I've talked about this situation before. Guests have asked me to take stuff out. And within reason, you take it out and, you know, you try to do the right thing. And I think doing the right thing is never the wrong thing. Dave in the audience and in the chat says that he's never asked for consent. And I know Dave does multiple podcasts. He doesn't do just one. I Dave, I forgot what I saw you say recently was like 6 or 8 different podcasts, something like that. And he doesn't ask for consent.

22:47 So there you go. And Sid said the same thing, 09 different podcasts Dave does. Dave very impressive. I don't know that I could keep my sanity if I was doing 9 different podcasts, you know, like at all Active. And Dave, one of these days we come up on stage. We got to get you up here on stage and get to know you a little bit better as a community. And he's now showing us the cuckoo sign, I guess, for himself. Jeff, good morning. Thank you for joining us on the stage. What did you want to add about this whole area of consent, verbal, written, etcetera? I just want to say Dave is awesome. And anyway, but nine podcasts is impressive. I don't ask.

23:29 I never have. I'm of the mindset that when I'm reaching out to a publicist or direct to this person, here's the zoom, you know, I'm video, we're going to video it. And then we get on and we're looking at each other and we spend an hour together. Like to me, that's that because what are we getting it for? Because what you said earlier about the manipulation of something, even if I had consent, they're not consenting for you to manipulate it. Make me look bad. You're still going to get sued. So you know, the thing about protecting yourself and getting sued is even if you pay for trademarks, do all these things, if you have to defend it or do it, it's going to cost you thousands of dollars regardless. So whether you have the consent or not doesn't prevent you from being sued and losing.

24:15 That's true. Tons of money in the process. I don't think anyone here is doing anything egregious or that we are running these crazy gotcha interviews and stuff like that. So I don't, you know, I don't, you know, to me it's we're all in the safe zone. But, and again, not a lawyer, but you know what I mean. Yeah, I do. And I'm surprised. I thought for sure Jeff's answer was going to be that he does have people sign something because Jeff's interviewing a lot of actors and, and what, what do we call them? Jeff B List Celebrities. I call them. I say they were really famous when they were famous. Yeah. Right, right.

24:57 Yeah. But a lot of times they're asking me to be on the show too, right. So you know it, you know, if you have guests reaching out to you, you know, to me, that's like it's not consents, but it's like, you know, if you were to create a paper trail of hey, judge, here's here's all this game to be, you know, it's like it seems like the reasonable thing would be like everyone here knew what they were getting into. Everyone. You know, Sir, did you know what a podcast was? Yes. And you agreed to be on Mark's show? Yes. Then then what? Why are we here, you know? Right. Yeah, and here I was saying, you know, with celebrities, like, I was surprised that you didn't have them sign anything. Then I'm looking in the chat and Dave has gone on to share that he's had AUS federal judge on his podcast and didn't ask for consent. And then he went on to say I run with scissors. So Yep, there you go.

25:49 So a lot of us just don't really care. I'm sure Gordon Firemark is his ears are ringing right now and I'm sure he hates this conversation because I know he would probably want us all to do the consent form thing, but OK. And then there there's another facet of this question here, right? So he can't remove Chris Baker, can't remove the YouTube video without losing all of the data, all the comments that comes through on the existing video that has the question at the very beginning asking for consent. So should he care? Should he just move on or take it down and just lose those numbers? Let's go to Billy first as as our guest on stage. Yes, Billy, go ahead.

26:37 Repay. That. I'm pretty sure YouTube has an editor within its own software that you can pull that right out because he can go in and clip out old ads and stuff and replace them so. That's a great point. And that's so funny because that's like the one thing thinking when I was thinking ahead about this, it's the one thing that never even went through my mind. And I know that it has its own editor. You think that that would probably solve the whole thing? Yeah. Yeah, I know people will pull ads out and replace them, so it'll definitely. Work. Yeah. And that editor kind of sucks. I think they've improved it recently. I think I read something and I haven't looked at it yet, but I can't stand their editor. It's not easy to find those precise cuts. It's a little sloppy.

27:20 Go ahead, Ashley. Well, I guess now knowing that the. Editor is there. If you can, if you can make a clean cut, do that. But I would also, you know, if perhaps you just uploaded it and you don't have that much engagement or that many views, how long does it take really to just put it up again? Not that long. I would maybe consider doing that. And if you do have engagement, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I think if anything it shows that you're conscious of, you know, so legal factors on your podcast, I wouldn't worry about. It. OK, there you go. And I think next in line, let's go to Amanda. And we're going to wrap this up soon because we've got some more stuff to get to. So go ahead, Amanda.

28:02 I agree with Ashley. I think if somebody heard that, nobody would think anything of it. It's a recorded conversation and and that makes sense. But also to her point, if it can be edited, clean it up and it just kind of depends how many I think interactions you've already had. But what he did put in that post was it would make things out of order and I can respect that if he was wanting it to be in a certain order of progression. So I would say keep it 100% if it if it causes use to have to do a up like upload. It wasn't like he started it. Like, I'm so sad you're here. I need you to agree to this. All right, let's move on. Like, as long as there's no, you know, tone to the recording conversation that would make either one look bad or inappropriate, I think it's totally fine. Yeah, good point.

28:54 And that was, I'm glad you brought that up too, because I was talking about earlier when I first brought up the question. You could do a playlist on YouTube as an example. So you could have your video playlist of all your podcast episodes and that can be manipulated. You can sort that accordingly for public display. So that's another option. And if you are leaving the guest consent disclaimer in there, another thing you could do is just address it as it is, right? So we add chapter markers a lot of times in over on YouTube, right, to identify intro, identify the different questions or answers being shared. Just start a 000 guest con content disclaimer or guest consent disclaimer, right? Just put it in there.

29:43 And I think that almost I don't know there. It adds almost another facet to it, right? It just, it almost looks intentional and I don't think to, I think everybody's point, I don't think the audience really cares. And now they can skip it if you do it in chapter form. And if they want to just skip right past it and go to to the intro, they'll just tap on the next time stamp and go right to it. That's another way to do it. So let's say we take Billy's advice and use the YouTube editor and let's say you have my experience with the YouTube editor and it's just not working well for you. Then leave it in and don't lose all the analytics, don't lose all the comments and just put it in as a time stamp. Just acknowledge it.

30:27 Chris Baker, I hope we've answered your question. I know I don't. Forget Nick. Don't forget Nick. There you go. All right Nick, you have the final word. Any anything additional you want to add to this? I was going to see what Billy said. You can edit it on YouTube. If for whatever reason editing doesn't work or maybe you don't have access to the editor, you could always mark the video as unlisted and re upload a new version of it. That way you don't lose any of the analytics that your video has caught up to that point. The only way someone would see that video is if they had a direct link to it. And then your new video would kind of take precedence over the one that was there. But not you. You're not speaking about YouTube specifically, are you? Yeah. Yeah, YouTube specifically because you could mark the.

31:09 You can't replace a file, though. No, no, no, not replace it. You just mark the video that exists on there as unlisted. That makes total sense. OK, so there you go. There's. I have a quick question. Sure, yes or no kind of question. Sure. Does the order in which you upload them actually really matter? The sequence of them? Is that really a thing? Good question. I'm going to let Amanda take it because I think my internet's getting screwy and I'm going to fix it. Go ahead, Amanda. I think for a lot of people know, but there are sometimes that maybe there are podcast reference podcast episodes referenced that if you're taking somebody to another place and you've already pre mentioned an episode number, like go back to episode 21 if you want to catch this interview. So I do think there are times that there's a progression of how they should have appeared or you've referenced a number. So I feel like yes and no, you know what I mean? Said.

32:03 Yeah, And I think that also they, you know, another thing to think about is there are a lot of podcasters out there that are strategically organizing their episode order, right? Like, like there's a reason for it. It's almost like chapters to a book and they want you to go in sequence. I'm not saying this is every podcast. A lot of us, it probably doesn't matter, right? Like what last week's interview or last week's episode was about has nothing to do with this week. So it doesn't matter if they go out of order. But there are plenty of podcasts that have a specific order for a specific reason. So I know you're trying to move on from this topic, but one thing that because this was kind of stressing me out when I started doing the AI briefing because it was a daily podcast and it would clutter up my the channel feed and it would basically drown out all the other videos that I created.

32:57 But what YouTube actually does is allows you to customize your profile and if you use playlist and things like that, you can basically say, I want this playlist to show up first. So I had one playlist for all of my like how to explain her videos and I had another playlist that showed up underneath that with all of the AI briefing episodes. That way when anyone landed on my channel, they were seeing what I wanted them to see and not necessarily what was the most recent upload, right? You can still see that in chronological order, but I don't think it's as important if you're taking advantage of those customization features on the actual channel page itself. You can't control that. Right, Right. OK, that makes sense.

33:40 And yeah, I just recently was finally playing a little bit more with my YouTube page and fixing that landing page so that people are seeing what they're supposed to see and they're not seeing videos that I posted like 15 years ago of my brother and his band playing in New York City, right? I get great video. I'm very proud of my brother and totally irrelevant now to the content that I'm putting out there. So I've since hidden that video also, but also organized my page in such a way that makes more sense to what I talked about now these days. Good point, Nick, thank you for sharing and thanks all to all of you for sharing around this topic for Chris.

34:23 I'm sure this is a lot of good info. And now I'd like to start inviting everybody who's listening live to come up on stage and share with those of us who are here. And I said come up on stage and I was trying to avoid that. Come join us on stage. And those of us who are already here are going to share our wins from this past week. So this is your time to shine, your time to stop and recognize the things that you are accomplishing, big or small. If it's a bad week and you get out of bed every day this week and face those days and that's the only when you can conjure up right now, go for it.

35:05 Let's hear it, let's talk about it and let's celebrate. And if you've got a big podcasting win, that's the those are the big ones I want to hear. And it's OK if you have wins from other areas to share with us. So let's dig in first. I'm going to go to and and Nick bounced right at wins from the week. He just disappeared from the room and I know that he's probably just getting to work right now. I'm going to share. Nick's win is he had a great family vacation this past week. There's Nick's OK with that. Dr. I'm coming to you first. Please share. Dang it. Are you unprepared? I have a backup one because I was trying to think of a better one, but the better one did not has not come to mind.

35:49 Yet. OK, well then I'm going to get a backup. One, hold on dear. There's no such thing as the backup win. There's no such thing as a better win. A win is a win is a win. Mark says this in the beginning. Regardless of how small or how big it is, it is a win. So welcome and you need to jump in and share and let's celebrate. Thank you, Sid. Well, you might be eating those words after you hear mine, so stop it. My win. My win is that I had a new toilet and stuff. I love it. Oh. My gosh. Oh my God. This is pause here and dive into why she needed a new toilet and who actually broke they. Were drilling through the floor.

36:31 It was just so weird. Oh my God. Yeah. Oh, and Dave gave me a little toilet emoji. Thank you so much. Yes, yeah. And Speaking of Dave, I'll share Dave's win out loud since he shared it in the chat. Dave's win is he episode 600 was recorded for his podcast Living the Next Chapter. And this is a podcast that's three years old. So congratulations Dave. 600 is a huge milestone. So yeah, certainly worth celebrating. Not a lot of us get to 600 episodes. So kudos to you for doing that. All right, we're going to keep it moving and go to let's, let's mix it up a little bit. Let's go to Dan.

37:13 Dan, good morning to you again. Would you share any wins from your week? We had a wonderful July 4th weekend. So I am a board member here for Cocoa Beach Main St. and we had three extremely successful events that took place this past weekend. I connected with the owners of Caltech and a few other great people, but pulled off a golf tournament, a pickleball tournament, and an exciting St. party with a drone show that everybody's been talking about instead of fireworks for Cocoa Beach. So I'll take all of those as wins. That's awesome. Congratulations and thanks for coming up with those wins.

37:53 It's certainly worth celebrating. And yeah, drones in the fireworks or as the fireworks I saw recently, has anyone else seen it 'cause I know it's gone viral. There's a video of a guy who sent off his drone into the middle of a fireworks show. So it was literally up there with the with the fireworks as they were bursting. So you get to see it in a whole new perspective. And it was really cool to see. I'll see if I can find that. And if I can, I'll put it in the show notes if anybody's interested in seeing that. It's really impressive. And I guess a little risky too because if I guess if those fireworks hit, hit the drone, it probably wouldn't be a good situation. Thank you, Dan, appreciate your share.

38:35 Let's check in with Billy. Billy, good morning. I know you've got at least one win because I think you shared it publicly earlier this week. Go for it. So wins, wins, wins couple. So one personal business win is I uploaded my 4000 piece of content on Amazon. So it's always fun. So actually over over 4000, but hit that mark. And then I've been running a little mastermind group for a little over a year. And so I had one of my mastermind members come to a meeting last week and they close out a $9000 month last month.

39:16 Wow. Using some of the strategies that that have been shared. So yeah, it was, it was good because, you know, the whole thing with that group was like, I'm just testing to see if people can get the same or similar results that I do and they do. So it's amazing. So it was a big win for her and a big win for me. That's awesome. And real quick, Billy, although I know you're not currently taking any new mastermind members, you want to share just briefly, what is that mastermind? So basically it all it is, is where I get together with content creators who are part of the Amazon Influence program and just teach them how to leverage these, these, you know, selling programs or affiliate programs or whatever to work directly with brands and create multiple streams of revenue.

40:02 And so that's what I've been doing. And and yeah, so the mastermind is going to be replaced by. Like a three to. Five day intensive or challenge or whatever. So I'm just seeing how how what the interest is in that. But then I may reopen the mastermind later on or or something, I don't know. I'm in the brainstorming phase of that. So. Well, congratulations and congratulations to that member of your mastermind, $9000 a month and there's nothing to sneeze at. Very cool that you have been able to help people accomplish big things like that, Billy. And we're going to put a link in the show notes to Billy's short form video that he put out all about that this very thing that he's sharing with us. So check that out to learn more. Thank you, Billy, and let's go to Ashley. Ashley, please share some wins from your week. So these are shared wins with my client Karen, who's the host of My Happy Ass Life.

40:56 We are back in production. We filmed 3 episodes this week. We'll be launching the new season in August. And the other win is that we are fully sponsored. We have 6 sponsors for the upcoming season. 1 is a clothing brand, there's a hair stylist, there's a pine straw company, a tax strategist. There's a nice variety of sponsors. And I just want to, you know, share with folks that we didn't. We don't have a big audience. When you look at our numbers, it's really nothing to be all that impressed with, but these folks just believe in the show and Karen, and they really want to support her and that's our wins for the week. Yeah. And I'm going to take a guess that another reason why the sponsors are interested is because big or small of an audience, it's probably their target audience.

41:44 And that's valuable to them, right? They want to be in front of those people. So whether it's, you know, 100 people, 1000 people, 10,000 people, the bottom line is if it's their people, there's some value to that. And if they, which it sounds like they probably have, if those sponsors have done their homework, they know just how powerful podcast advertising can be. OK, Amanda, coming to you. Please share some wins with us. So if you've been a listener of the show for a long time, you know, I try everything and anything to get people into my little community to help support the community, pay into the community and help us survive during very lean time. That this week it was so simple because just a little Petunia popped up in the sidewalk in front of my store, like right in front of the store and Barber shop that I just love my Barber lady.

42:34 She's so great. And it's kind of, I looked at that and I was like, I can do something with this. This little Petunia in this crack on the sidewalk has now caused people to like, come and take pictures with it. Wow, it's famous. It is, and people are leaving things by the sweet little petunia. So it started with the sweet little petunia. And I had a little bench that I put a little frog on and I took a picture and that's what started it. And I just told the story, did a little poem with it. And I just think people are needing that sweetness, the wholesomeness. There was just something special about it. And so it's it's caused just in the last couple of days, this little bit of extra attention to Ida. That's good attention.

43:18 And so I wasn't expecting that kind of little win this week. But hey, you just kind of pay attention to your surroundings sometimes and the opportunities right in front of you. So it's just been a fun weekend and I can't wait to kind of see where this journey takes it until, I'm sorry, but all flowers eventually die in Michigan. And anywhere. Or anywhere, right? And so I'm kind of just documenting the journey because I think there's even some beauty in when that Petunia goes away and what will pop up next. So I'm I'm just excited to be on this journey. And my poor mom thought I was losing my mind when I was explaining it to her. She didn't understand. So much of her life is like, gosh, this child of mine. I mean, I wish there could be a podcast between the two of you. She.

44:07 Never would. But she was like, Amanda, I'm looking at you like you're my 8 year old child who picked a flower and it's going to die and you think it's going to live forever. I'm like mom, I'm aware it won't live forever, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it's tremendous beauty and story today and for however many days it's going to live. So here she thought I was losing my mind. I'm like, I promise I'm good mom and it's bringing joy to the community. It's just it's special. So I don't have any regrets about the Petunia. We're and we're sharing a link to your TikTok video, the first one of the Ida Petunia. We're going to put that in the show notes so people can see what she's talking about. And I love the little bench you put next to it, although it I think that's a cat that's on the bench. Although it just looks to me from at least from the picture and from a distance it looks like a little piece of poop. Oh, it's there was a little frog. OK, it's a frog.

44:56 And then yesterday, Jesus appeared. Oh wow. And to today, I already have a sneak peek of what somebody's leaving. They sent me a picture and it's a Lego set of Jamie from the Rusty Cup, myself from Pressed Rose and Amy the Barber. And they have yellow flowers, little scissors and a little coffee cup. So little like Lego figurines are going to be out there today. So it's just going to be super sweet. I just love it. OK, there it is. Thank you. Congratulations on your win, your Petunia win, Amanda, love that. And it looks like we've got a couple more people that have joined us from the audience. And then I'll share after them my wins from the week.

45:37 So let's go to Yvonne. Yvonne, welcome back to the stage. It's been a minute since we've had you up here. I see you popping in in the audience from time to time. Good to have you up here. Please share your wins from this past week. Thank you. Well, I love the Petunia series. Amanda, I have been following very good. And yeah, I am. One of the reasons you haven't really heard from me lately is because my very soon after my kiddo graduated from high school, my mom, who had driven from Texas to be here for it in Connecticut, then drove up to Maine to visit her sister and ended up having a heart attack and then had to have open heart surgery.

46:23 So I have been in Maine kind of being here and, and figuring out logistics with thank God it happened here because we've got family support and they were able to help us find an apartment for her and her husband to stay in for the recovery. So, so I've been busy and part of my win is that I am here and able to help. So that's been great. And I timed out perfectly with my podcast break. So that's when that was already planned and I've already got a lot of the work done to keep some stuff rolling while I am on break.

47:05 So got little things to do, but mostly things are are in good shape. So those are some major wins, man. And she's she's recovering pretty well. So yeah. So that's my win and I'm in the meantime, I have found beautiful river walk in town. Your Petunia like appreciating that beauty. Amanda is kind of what brought me up because this river walk is is just gorgeous here and I've been skating or walking it. The other bonus is that I'm staying with one of my cousins and his family and just getting bonus time with them. It's been incredible.

47:46 So yeah, big wins. Awesome. Thank you for sharing those wins and I'm glad recovery is going well and wish her all the best. And yeah, glad that she was there in an area where there was family to help support. That's great news and really scary. So I'm I'm glad it sounds like it's all working out. Thank you for sharing, Yvonne. Let's go to Brian. Brian, good morning. Welcome back to the stage. Did you want to share some wins with us? Yes, Good morning, Mark. First, on the weekly live show thing I am testing out putting what the theme of the show will be. As you know I do the Brian Coletto show but I'm putting some more words into the title they what the topic or topics will be.

48:39 I'm testing that out to see if that can get more traction to my videos on YouTube specifically. I've ran at least a mile for 10 straight days, so I'm kind of spilling a little bit of a goal, but I'll be posting more about it soon. And the other one is that last night I got to meet a celebrity chef at a networking event. He was just inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Cool. Do you know his name? David Burke is his name.

49:20 Thank you, Brian. Congratulations on all those wins. Always fun to meet a celebrity. Did you get a chance to talk to him at all? Like, like in depth? I mean, not really so much in depth, but you got to meet him. Yeah, I got to meet him. I didn't even know his name until I saw the promo from the chamber. So I don't pay attention to much to to food stuff. I thought it was cool and it and I did get the photo op. That was the most stressful part of last night was getting that photo op for my socials. Otherwise, I had a good time. Congratulations, Brian. Thank you for sharing all those wins and keep us posted on your strategy there and let us know how that's working out I'd love to hear more about that thank you you're welcome all right so I'll share quickly my. Wins.

50:10 Don't forget Sid. Oh, did we skip Sid? Oh my goodness. I think so, unless I'm making no. I think you're right. I think you're right, Sid. Please forgive me, please. And please share any wins from your past week. Oh. My gosh, you're too funny, man. Our friend and my friend Stacy Sherman has been pushing me to get outside of my comfort zone and she's been telling me, like said, you need to do more public speaking. You need to get more stages, you need to read this book. And so I finally read the book and she goes, you need to go to these events. What book? The referable speaker is really good book. I read it over the 4th of July weekend. And then I read another book. So I listened to another book Stacy told me to listen to. And when she mentioned the book, I'm like, well, yeah, you told me about that book like 6 months ago and I, I bought it. It's sitting here, so I'll read it now. So anyways, that led me to signing up to go to the heroic speaker event called Core.

51:05 It's a free event that you have to pay deposit, you get it back when you show up. So I signed up to go to that to really start diving into public speaking. And so I'm being, I'm celebrating being pushed by a friend to do something that I want to do right, pushing me a little bit outside my comfort zone. I'm going to an event that I don't know a single person, which is also really cool. And I'm leaning into doing something that I want to do. So those are my wins for the week. Very cool. Sid, please share with us a link to the core program just because I think that would be a cool thing to include in our show notes. Thank you. Awesome. And congratulations to you on all of your wins and for pushing yourself to be uncomfortable and setting a good example for us that yeah, we are it where the magic happens is where we push ourselves to be uncomfortable.

51:55 So I am looking forward to that. And I see you as being a really powerful public speaker. Looking forward to following this journey with you. As for me, I've been sharing over the past couple months really that business hadn't been as strong as in months and years past and I was certainly getting a little frustrated about it. And I have since over the past few weeks been sharing some wins that have shown a turn around and that continues. This week I got a current client who a consulting client who I'm helping with their podcast. It's a couple they have hired or really purchased an add on service that we provide here at Ironic Media where we are helping them with their Meta ads campaign.

52:43 So this is our second client now, a current client of my company who has purchased this new add on program that we offer to help people affordably get onto Meta ads to end to get more eyes and ears on their podcasts and or businesses. That's one and second, I wish she was still here. I saw Renee was in the audience earlier and Renee often joins us up here on stage as well. Unofficially, I've been hired by Renee and her business partner to launch their podcast. I say unofficially because we just haven't signed the bottom line yet, but we had a great call yesterday and they said they do in fact want to move forward with my help to launch their podcast. And there may be some future business that comes out of that too with me helping their other clients launch their podcasts. So to be continued.

53:37 Their two, two wins, I'm really excited about. Again, it's nice to have a bit of a turn around here when business has been a little challenging, to say the least. I'm excited to celebrate that with you all. I'm glad to share that with you and we are back again next week. Again, reminder, 2 reminders for you. First, before you go, please go to podcastawards.com and give the podcasting morning chat your vote for the Adam Curry People's Choice Award and the Education Award. And when you're looking for us among all the nominees for those two categories, look under the when you're going alphabetically, you got to find us under the TS for the podcasting morning chat. And another reminder, we are back next week and it is our summer schedule.

54:22 So we're back Tuesday, 7:00 AM Eastern Time. And we'll do it all week long after that, talking all things podcasting to help you in your podcasting journey. So until Tuesday, make it a great weekend. Everybody take care.
